Me and the wife both have a iPhone 3GS. ONLY reason I got them was because 2 of my friends have iPhones. My friends and family and coworkers they all have different types of smart phones. Blackberries, Droids, and ONLY things that the Droids and Blackberries have that the iPhones dont is flash. ONLY things the Droids and Blackberries don't have that iPhone does is the iPod. But i'm sure Droids and Blackberries have music playing capability like through iHeart radio or through the phones carrier music catalog. B4 we went to AT&T we had Verizon. Our phones was the LG EnV. Another reason was because we use Apple computers at home and already had an iPod Touch. Sooo we just kept with Apple products.

It's NOT which phone is better than the other. IT"S your choice of what YOU like or your needs.
Basically we chose the iPhone because my friends had them and our family had Blackberries.

Not trying to make an argument, Just throwing my change in..

AT&T is not a bad service at all. I (and my family) have enjoyed them alot. My parents, sister, and I all have iPhones. My grandparents have them as well.

Verizon isn't a bad service either. I will admit that they have their strengths(signal) and weaknesses(customer service). But I had an LG Dare before my iPhone, my phone bill was $153.xx a month. With my iPhone, on the same plan and everything, Its right at $118.xx a month. I have more capabilities and more things to do with my iPhone.

Over a couples years AT&T has really stepped up their game. Last August, we got 3G here in Auburn. Now when I hit those Country/County roads, I loose the 3G BUT my EDGE service is still strong. I cant think of a time I haven't had a dead zone where it only affected me.

Droid has its good points and I'm sure it has a few flaws, just like every other phone. NOTHING can be made perfect.

HTC, Motorola, and Google seem to be going in a good direction, but there is no sense in making 12+ phones to make a point that Android is perfect or amazing.

Yes they are number 1 on the charts because they have 65%(-/+) of the market. Apple is number, what was it..... 3-5?, but anyway they are there and they have only ONE phone. I say "one phone" because they are all from the same company, run off the same software versions, Have the same characteristics, and many other things.

These threads can be dumb to people including me, because they dont get anywhere. People have their own opinions. That's fine. Right now, I'm in between, I might go for a Droid Or I may stick with Apple and get the iPhone 4 when my contract runs up. We'll see.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
iOS is still the number one smart phone operating system.

And google/htc/motorola are right for making so many android phones. Keep in mind the phone itself by no means makes it an android. Android is an OS, much like windows. Notice how there are way more PC's than macs? It's because Apple chooses to centralize their profit through the use of hardware as well as software, however, microsofts profit comes predominantly from Software alone.

The same concept will soon come to exist. Apple and their products vs. Software.

So as long as the Android remains a free, open source OS, you will continue to see more devices running it natively. It makes sense.

    Back on topic:

I had the iphone for 2.5 years, then got the HTC Droid incredible. By far the iphone is behind the HTC droid in its capabilities. Don't argue that with me. However, the iphone will forever remain the smart phone for everyone. The OS on the iphone is much more user friendly, almost idiot proof, where as Android gives you the freedom to do what you want, and if you are not careful, you can mess something up.

EDIT: Forgot this, Verizons customer service has been second to none in quality. They called periodically for the first 3 months with my new phone asking me if i liked it, what I though of verizon, and they even sent me a free case for joining.

Android OS is definitely different. I'm sure I will say more things about Android when I sit down with it, but by glances and videos it seems to be just another OS.

iPhone has its spot in the market just like BlackBerry, HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG, etc. Its just like what Paul said, its preferred, because its different and the OS is "idiot proof".

Things always change with Verizon.. I have been with AT&T right at a year now. Back when I was with them, They asked WAYYY too many questions about a simple phone replacement and took 30 to an hour to get to A desk.

    This.

Also, such a useless concept, and not a new one at that. Especially since using the phone as a phone is starting to seriously fall off, as text messaging is taking over. It's novel, and kind of a cool tech demo... but it's not really that useful for, well anything.

Imagine trying to Voice chat with someone with a shaky hand. A table stand will be needed, and why not just use a laptop then.

iPhone has great hardware. Strong glass. Great 5MP camera. Fast processor. Good RAM. The OS is great for everyone to use. It is extremely easy. Why put more steps between you and a simple task? Things brings us back to Macs vs. Windows. Yes, it is way more open, and open to a system failure. A company can choose not to support something, it does not mean that it is going in the wrong direction. Do you still use floppy disks? Who needs flash when almost every game on the web has an app version in the iTunes/App store? It's a mobile phone, how many tasks can you possibly be running? Free apps, that are written within a day with no requirements and aren't thorough are great? Physical keyboard, personal preference and I can out type any physical keyboard. Also, 40 other things to break. Why a removable battery? Go to Apple and they'll give you a brand new PHONE. Will Mot... no, they won't. Verizon, Sprint, & T-Mobile all have to take your phone or SEND you a replacement (usually a refurb). Also, when it is time for a new battery, it is time for a new phone. Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries are meant to last about 2 years. 2 years go by, upgrade! Why have another port on your phone for additional memory? 16 or 32 GB is not enough? So your phone actually comes out to $300 if you have to buy a 32 GB MicroSD card.

Like everyone has said, it comes down to personal preference. Either platform have different features to offer. But, for me, I prefer reliability. I prefer it to just work right out of the box. I have had both Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Both are great, but AT&T let's me download faster.

Apple store will give you a new phone, on the spot. Android phones also have internal memory. What if that shits out?

Agreed that aesthetics and function are more important than looks and brand, but have you ever thought that Android, if they keep up what they're doing, will never be in the business market?

    Here are the important issues...

    Want a new battery?

Droid - go buy a new battery and self install
Apple - send it in to factory for expensive replacement or get a new phone

Want to upgrade from 16GB to 32 GB?

Droid - buy a new SD card
Apple - buy a new phone

    Want apps?

    Droid 80% free apps
Apple 80% you pay for apps

    Service reliability?

    Droid - Verizon = best
    Apple - ATT = worst

Iphone - no more insurance avaialble
    Droid - I have insurance

Now that said... Apple has more apps, more support from other manufacturers, better interface for music, etc.

I got the Droid and wont look back.

I am not arguing with you. These are just the facts.

+1 on Face Time. It works great and exactly how it was designed. I never miss a moment.
