I’m running Shell 91 octane but that’s because it’s the only fuel I can easily get that doesn’t have ethanol in it. It gave me much better fuel economy in my ‘05. I haven’t done a comparison in the ‘18 yet.

I run VP C12 in my Street /Strip car with a 11.1:1 sbc and yes it gets expensive especially when I'm only getting 5mpg

The truck isn’t tuned from the factory to take advantage of a higher octane. IMO, it’s not worth the extra cost.

Sure it is. It's all about the knock. Your truck will change timing depending on octane. That timing change will give you a bit more hp.
It's the most expensive few hp mod you can do lol. Eight bucks extra a tank, 50 tanks a year, 5 years is $2000 for about 5 hp. Have at it lol.

Stock only needs 87, anything more is a huge waste of money. You do you though

News flash AV fuel has lead in it, it will trash cats in short order. But what the hay it doesn't have ethanol so what's a cat or two.

Also AV fuel is meant to run at much higher elevations than regular fuel

It’s also meant for airplanes, not a 6 cylinder pickup truck. I don’t know why people do the things they do

I noticed my engine runs a lot smoother with mid-grade (88) here in the mountains than with our crappy regular (85 or 86) at 6500' elevation.

Well it has lead in and that is the anti knock this does help with manually being able to lean the mix at altitude but it's still 100 octane on the ground as it is at 10,000 feet. There is no ethanol because it is hygroscopic water is something you don't want in a piston aircraft carb icing is a bad thing.

Aviation fuel is 100 octane low lead, it works outs to be 97 octane. And half of the small engine cessnas that run it are 4 cylinder peg engines. It didn’t hurt anything running a 1/4 tank through it.

I’m slowly phasing in 93 octane for OVTune’s 93 octane map in the next tune update :p

I run 89 octane non-ethanol which gives me the best mileage. Other times I put in 93 octane.

I tried all 3 octane choices here in Ohio and 93 runs best...so that's what I use. I noticed a lot of hesitation and choppy power curve with 87 and it's minimal with premium unleaded. I blame the Atkinson crap :goingcrazy:
