Yeah, I tried it again, works fine. Must have been operator error

Dont rev too high when in 4lo and shifting gears. There is a lot of torque going through the transmission and the synchros won't be able to handle that much torque if you rev to high. Try to shift before 1500rpm.

Im talking about going into gear from a stop. It almost feels a like a bike when you first click it into first and it kind of loads up the drive train..

I’ve owned and built a few rigs before this and never really noticed this happen before...

I feel like all the shifting issues and clunky feelings are due to the clutch not disengaging as much as it should in order to take the torque off the synchros to be able to shift smoothly. Especially the 1-2, 2-3 upshifts and downshifts to 2nd...

I might be out to lunch, but this is my theory

Normal. There is still some torque in the transmission spinning which can cause a little bump when going into gear but this not because of a clutch dragging. Not all transmissions handle the same. Try to make the shifts before your RPMs drop more than 200-300rpm. Do the shift quickly with finesse, but dont try to jam the shifter into gear and force it.

So, since we're on the topic of shifting, in the last 3 days I've been unable to get into gear 3 separate times.
The 1st and 3rd were going into reverse from parked, like it went half into the gate. Releasing the clutch led to some grinding until I popped it back into neutral.
The 2nd time was trying to get into first from a stop, it would not budge into first until I put it in neutral and re-tried it.

The only correlation between the 3 of these that I can think of is it was within the first 10 minutes of each trip in approximately 35 degree weather. Not too worried about it, just curious as to potential reasons this would happen.

Gear fluid is really thick. I usualy neex to speed match my releasing clutch in n and then going into gear.

So I had to try this. Did it with out 2014 Tundra. It actually works although my chin did nothing but putting it to my temple made it work from a long ass ways off. One of those things that makes you say...WTF...

Anyone has this rattle noise that appears at 3000rpm mark going uphill only? Can’t pin point it, I feel like it’s in the engine bay, while passanger thinks it’s near my seat. :annoyed:

    And what Jck said^^^^^

Also you could use a 75W80 synthetic like Redline MTL in the trans, it flows well below 0F

Yeah I've always heard the method of holding to the side of your head/temple before. Basically the explanation I've heard is that the back of your skull is working as a parabolic antenna to direct the signal towards your vehicle.

Interesting. I had not heard of doing it that way. It's all good if it works when you need it.

Anyone here that’s gone up a tire size to 265 75 16, care to share their findings?
Any appreciable change in gearing, power loss?
