Hello everyone! I am new to the Tacoma world and especially the new vehicle world. My question is, today it snowed in my town, and driving around my truck was "miraculously" spinning out but the traction control kept "hazardously" applying the traction control even though I have the switch off. I know this because when it slides out, the traction control light still flashes when sliding. Asking for in the future of off roading, does the truck have to be in 4wd to truely turn off the traction control?

Press and hold 10 seconds (button with squiggly lines under vehicle). Turns all of it off. Have to be stopped

Did you hold it down for (something like) 5 seconds so 2 lights come up on the dash? If you press the button quickly so only one light appears, it puts it into a mode where more traction control is applied.
Can’t remember the names of each and the lights that appear on the dash. But press the button quickly, look at the dash lights, then press it for a long time until you get a different set of lights.

There's a thread here that explains all the modes really well. It's pretty complicated as there are 8-9 diff trac modes

Hmm same as mine. I’ll have to try it. I’ve heard the same from someone else, but they said under 30mph?

Why do you say "hazardously"? I get the dangers of ABS kicking in and cutting out your brakes when you just have one wheel without grip and 3 still with high traction, but the traction control won't prevent you from stopping. All it will do is keep you pointed in a straight line.
