CAIs are a joke. If there was a quick easy way to pick up 5-10 hp just by changing the intake design dont you think toyota would have already done it?

Looking for something louder that doesn't drone is going to be kinda hard. It's not a muscle car

Absolutely not! It's designed for sound regulation/comfort and emissions.

Have you ever looked at a stock intake and wonder to yourself what all all those resonators, chambers, and corrugated tubes are for.
I'll give you one guess. It's not Flow...

I'm not sure what your background is, or if you're familiar with automotive design from an engineering stand point is, but you are incorrect.

As much as I appreciate Honda's, I'm sorry to say that I've never had the pleasure to own one.

And regarding my age double your initial guess.

I may be trying to thread the needle in terms of sound. I have heard the open K&N style, its just too much noise plus I am not convinced it is better for performance. That leaves this AEM tube, which I can get for cheap or the URD CAI, which I like but costs more and you have to cut the radiator support.

As far as CAI being a joke it depends on the OEM design and your own expectations. Every mod is some sort of compromise, even if there was power to be had, you may give up cost, increased NVH, reliability, etc. In the case of the Tacoma the air box is already a pretty freaking good design pulling air from the fender. For as cheap as I can get it, i may just try it. At least I get a drop in filter.

pretty sure I lost power from it. or my butt dyno was expecting a different result? either way I didn't pay for it so im not too salty about it. it does sound cool though. I've yet to suck water up with it but I've only had water up to the hood so maybe im not trying hard enough

it wouldn't be that hard lol, that urd design is shit. pretty much strictly street truck only. why on earth would you want a cone intake positioned behind your grille... that's just asking for trouble.

It's low and unprotected. As long as you will never go through a big puddle or off road, you will be fine.

It's almost as if people who are in the wilderness on what only loosely meets the definition of "road" miles from even thinking about cell service want the engine they are trusting their life to being as reliable as possible...
