December 2018 Seattle-Area Meet

How about the 8th is the December meet?
Was out of town so didn't keep up on the forums and missed that last run.

 

I can't do the 8th, but the 15th would be great? If no one is up for the 15th, it is not a big deal.

It will be fun since I'm still rocking the stock tires. I will have a set of chains on board though.

It did well enough when playing in dry snow last winter.

 

There's already a run in the making for the 8th, so I'm just gonna set it as the monthly meet

I'm sure there will be some folks that want to get out on the 15th as well so another run can always be planned

 

So the 8th will be the “official” meet date. I suggest meeting at Country Pride again. Maybe 10:00?

Just so we’re clear, I haven’t run my planned route yet. I simply have it mapped out and got the info from another member. If it turns it to be a dud, having other members present who know the area may make the trip more enjoyable.
I will have recovery straps, towing chains, and a set of tire chains. Might bring my boom stick

 

That's the exact plan that we had on the 1st. The snow was pretty heavy, wet, and slippery. Things can change quite a bit during the week, but be prepared with traction boards.

 

Just make sure you don't have Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. Either way that snow was not great on Saturday and it would've been quite an effort to get to the top, if we could make it at all.

How far into stampede pass did you go?

 

Not far at all, just past the power lines before I started having issues. My guess is that you might have an easier time next week. Supposed to be dry all week, and the roads will probably be groomed down by snowmobiles.

 

I suppose if Plan A (Keechelus Ridge) doesn’t work out, we go far enough into Stampede to have some fun, then turn around. Trying to make it all the way through would be treacherous.

This sounds awesome! I went up Stampede Pass Saturday and had a good time. There was snow back there but it was really wet and slushy. The last stretch to the top of the Pass was not easy. I would air down and bring traction boards.

I also went up the other route, Lake Katchess. Same thing, maybe a foot or snow back there but very wet and slippery.

I’d go but already made plans for Tahuya next Saturday morning! Here’s a pic from Stampede Pass.

 

anyone going on the 8th have a CB? i need to do a radio check but lack response in my community for a blind radio check.

 

You spend a lot of time snowboarding around there? I am unfamiliar with the places you’ve mentioned

 

Yup I do. Haven't adventured much, but I know a guy who could show us.

 

Haha I told the Mrs. we’re out looking for Christmas trees this weekend. I’m counting on not being out all day but I do intend on finding one.
