    She here.

Taking skids in this week to get coated. Got quoted $250 for the entire assembly, which isn’t terrible. A lot easier to touch up small scratches than drop it and spray it every few months. Will report back now they fit with BAMF sliders. No whammies, hopefully.

Also finally getting my North Star battery I ordered from the GB when I still lived in Hawaii. This thing is heavy.

Just the back end of the mid/rear skid. Everything bolts up the way you see it laying in the pic. Dropping the plates in tomorrow for powder and hope to have them on this weekend.

Truck is the talk of the community here. Older guys m walking their dog to stop and talk to me when I’m outside. Looking forward to the winter and getting down in the mountains for some fresh tracks :santa:

Second post updated with a sortable excel file I made so I could stop swapping tabs to check tire size / load index / weight / diameter / tread depth.

I had them quote me matte black. I’m sure they could do grey like the wheels, but I’d have a harder time touching them up.

Now I gotta figure out which bolts go where. At least Pelfreybilt printed their own instructions

Comparison pics of the Pelfreybilt IFS and CBI IFS. It’s a touch shorter, but CBI’s mid skid slides into a cutout at the bottom and bolts to the cross member vice bolting to back end as required on the Pelfreybilt IFS.

Also, I miss Hawaii temperatures right now.

Plus, that cut-out for your oil filter for easier oil changes...winning! Congrats, again, bro!

Oh, and it’s a chilly 70 degrees this morning. LOL!

Not having to drop for the filter is going to be nice!

Take your weather. I have chipotle, good Italian, craft beer, and cheap shipping :)

I miss Thai and Korean BBQ something fierce tho.

East coast doesn't have good Thai or Korean BBQ? What a shame. LOL!

So I got the full overland skids from @CBI Offroad Fab up today. I only have a few bolts to tighten still (my wrenches are in storage and arrive Monday, so my buddy is gonna run some over to me in the meantime while the truck is in the garage).

The skids don’t come with instructions, but they have an install video that’s really great to show you how to finesse them on fairly pain free.

Install in this order, leaving a little play in the skids until everything is mounted to tighten completely to avoid gaps:

The IFS reuses the 4 larger bolts towards the front and two of their bolts with a washer in the back.

    CDE00D7A-861F-4758-A927-6FF83E6DCAB3.jpg

The rear cross member skid they supply goes on just past your transmission. On the drivers side of the trick, you’ll see a brake line bracket bolted into your frame. Remove that bolt, and you can try bending that little hook back, cutting it, etc. I don’t have a saw and I couldn’t get it to bend, so I just left it off for now. One of their bolts. Other side may require you to take rubber covers off. My 2016 has them, but I’ve seen models without. Bolt, washer, nut on the back side through the frame opening. You’ll need a wrench for this too in order to seize the back end while you tighten it up.

    15A35FB8-D9EB-4598-A00A-26D14A8886B7.jpg

The mid skid uses 4 long carriage bolts that go through the cross members with the square fender washer and a nut on the top. The second nut back under the exhaust on the driver’s side will require you to use a wrench to tighten, a socket or crescent (the ones I have, at least) won’t fit on that. On the back end of the skid, you should be aligned with their rear cross member you have loosely attached. Install the four shorter carriage bolts with nuts on the top.

    D24D790E-F215-4DC3-897E-AC617BE39DE1.jpg

Tighten everything up. I pulled my IFS forward, then my mid, and they fit like puzzle pieces while being perfectly flush. I was impressed by this as they don’t bolt together with overlapping lips like other skids do.

For comparison purposes, the left is a Pelfreybilt aluminum IFS beside the CBI steel IFS. The Pelfreybilt IFS is a touch longer, but that’s because they used a rear lip as a mounting surface for their mid skid vice sharing the cross member like the CBI IFS does. The CBI IFS was easier to install because it has better visibility in the panels to see alignment points. It also has an access panel for the oil filter (panels removed in pics..).

Powder done by a local shop. Seen too many pics of it getting rubbed off in shipping.
