I have the same tree stand- pretty beefy and stable. Hoping it’s amos proof. He might be terrified of a tree or might all out attack it. His 1st Christmas so we will see...

Thanks! They are two fun pals that's for sure. Calicos are such beautiful cats, I love the random patterns and the smooth coats! Snickers looks like he got that name from his diet, did you feed him snickers bars :p

Maggie the calico doesn't spend more than 5' away from me when I'm home. She sleeps on top of the couch when I come home after work and sit on the couch lol

This is the best stand I've ever had, the cats stand no match against the tree itself but the decorations are still vulnerable. My favorite part about this stand is it also holds a shitload of water!

    Morning Everyone.

My wife has been looking at cats since Abigail passed away 1.5 months ago. She fell in love with this cat (see below) and is in the process of contacting the foster. Has anyone here had a 1-eyed cat before? If so should we be worried about anything? Questions to ask the foster? They said in the description that the eye was removed due to an infection but the doctor said the surgery went great and she's healing wonderfully.

My wife can't stop thinking about this cat. The name that she was given is odd... Her name is Shrubby. My wife calls her Winky lol She is 5 years old.

    Thanks in advanced.

That's too funny. My parents tool in a feral kitten and they have a loft with beams that goes about the same height .

He's taken a tumble a few times haha

I once knew someone that had a one-eyed cat and she always seemed to be happy and perfectly fine which was awesome. Another one of my friends actually has a three-legged cat that had no problem getting around and was the most lovable cat I’ve ever met.

My gram had a 1 eyed cat when I was a kid, and other than turning his head more he was pretty normal. Always had his ears on a swivel, as I recall.

I had a Bengal (well, part Bengal. Vet said he thought Bulzi was 50%). He never did that, fortunately, but keeping him out of the shower/sinks/toilets was almost impossible. And very vocal. God forbid he should run out of food at 2AM...

Meet Jack - our one-eyed, hard of hearing kitten...

    Jack.jpg

He was born with one eye - we fostered him through kitten-hood, and the surgery to permanently close it. He's ours now, and is a total sweetheart. He will tilt / cock his hear to get his bearings, and then he's off like a shot. He doesn't get on anything too high, since his depth perception is affected.

My wife and I have different opinion on his hearing loss - he doesn't respond to "normal" things like the vacuum, but knows when my wife comes in the house and when another cat has his favorite foil ball.

Only precaution I might say is to survey the house for any fall hazards, but don't be afraid to adopt the little girl.

No name yet... she's feral and chose our yard to give birth. Snatched up the kittens around 10 weeks old and took them to a shelter - most have been adopted at this point. Shortly after, took her in to get spayed and released her again but she sticks around - guess she's mine now :notsure:.

Nothing serious to worry about. Growing up on a farm with lot's of barn cats, I can tell you that even with severe injuries, they will manage and adapt. The worst case we had was a cat that got caught in our hay mower in a hay field and ended up with a clipped ear, missing rear leg, and virtually no tail. He must have accidentally gone for a ride inside the mower but was too scared to get out while it was moving, but he was still alive and well 10 years later, but he stayed to close to the barns and house after that. He was able to keep up with all of the other cats just fine.

The only thing I would suggest is to more cognizant of approaching him from his blind side. Make some sort of noise so that he can hear you coming from that direction, i.e. he can turn and see you coming from that direction.
