Sounds like a good deal to me -- that's about my price I paid for my 17 , and it is a AC. Of course I had no rebate.

Tell them you will sell your trade in yourself and see if they give you the same price --if not -WALK!
Trade-in people usually leave an average of 2500-3500 on the table (dealer profit on your trade). Some states penalize private sales and make them difficult for the consumer -others do not . Missouri is one that does not. I have never done a trade in during my 70 plus years!

    that is a crazy deal
Thanks! took some several weeks if not a month of BS back and forth with dealerships. Black version was hard to find! Was asking about 2019 at the time they were just rolling onto the lots so very limited selection and offering zero deals for 2019 at the time.

Never discuss trading until you have a sales price in writing. That’s a big mistake.

Trade value depends on the vehicle and market. Giving a dealer 2500-3500 isn’t very bright.

Even if you tell them about the trade after you settle on a price, guess what? They're going to lowball you on the trade. They're not in the market to give money away.

Even if you have an offer sheet- that "sales price in writing" you speak of, it's not a price set in stone until both parties sign the contract. And you won't sign a contract until the trade-in price is agreed on and put on the contract.

If I don’t get the trade price I want, I don’t trade. Thankfully the Toyota salesperson I use has always been fair.

Absolutely. Just saying either party can walk at any time. Two dealers refused the deal I wanted and let me walk. Then another gave me a better deal. Go figure.

Keep in mind a trade does save you Sales Tax. If your trade is worth a lot, that can be a significant savings. I got 32k for my trade which saved me almost 2k in taxes to Corrupticut.

    What he said..

Dont even tell them you have a trade until you have done your back n forth on the new one... then toss in that lil grenade known as "okay, what if I trade in such n such?"

Makes it much harder to "show" trade values when you have already chewed off a good chunk of F.E.G. on the new one.

    Cheers

pro tip- if at any point after you have agreed on the numbers (but before going into F&I) you hear the word "mallard"... you did it wrong.. run away and try again at the next closest dealer:thumbsup:

Just a lil inside joke for any other salesman TWmembers..
