Readylift (69-5510) - needing longer rear shocks

Hey guys, I've been pretty MIA lately (school and work take most of my time now).

I'm trying to get a better ride out of my truck with the Readylift 3" lift for the 5 lug tacos (69-5510). I'm wanting to replace the rear shocks as they seem to be pretty maxed out. Anyone know what shocks would work, and are longer than the factory ones? Thanks in advance.

 

Fat Bob's garage sells a pair of shocks specifically for 5 lug lift kits. They make a kit very similar to the Readylift, so it should be no issues using their shocks with your Readylift.

 

^^^yep Fat Bob's sells Pro Comp shocks that are longer for use with their 5-lug spacer lift.

I opted to get some of the yellow bilsteins from a 6 lug. They measure about the same length as the Pro Comps that Fat Bob's sells. I went with the Bilsteins b/c I was installing Bilstein HD struts up front, so I felt that there was a better chance of the ride matching, if it even really matters. FWIW,I don't have anything against the Pro Comps, just found a better deal on some slightly used Bilsteins.

 

Thanks guys. I went ahead and ordered the ones from Fat Bob's, though they said they are Fat Bob's brand (not Pro Comp). Either way, I hope the extra 2 and a quarter inches helps. Thanks again.

 

Did you just buy Bilsteins that fit PreRunner/4wd models? (front and rear)
On the front, did you run the Bilsteins to raise the ride height by themselves, or use them in conjunction with different springs or a spacer to raise the height?

I used a spacer front/AAL rear lift kit from Fat Bob's to lift the truck. I bought a pair of rear shocks from a 6 lug. The fronts from a 6 lug will not fit on the 5 lug trucks. The front struts I bought were specific for the 5 lug truck, but they were the same series (HD) as the rear shocks I put on.

So in summary:
Lift: Fat Bobs spacer/AAL
Front Struts: Bilstein HD for 5-lug
Rear Shocks: Bilstein HD for 6-lug (came off of a 6 lug truck)
