I have an "04 Tacoma Pre-Runner Dble-Cab. w/ V-6. I just bought it in May,I've put 3500 miles on it or so & Wednesday it started making an awful racket at the front of the engine. It first appeared after stopping to get fuel after 2.5 hour of driving or so & then restarting. Thought it was coming from passenger side front, but now seems to be coming from front cover. Ideas???? Please?? It has apprx 96,000 miles.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Wih the exception of sound how does it run?
Can not be timing chain since this year V6 has belt. So another question would be when was the timing belt done. 96 k is about the time in needs to be done. Any issues with oil pressure, voltage, or maybe any leaks on the front.

What type of noise would help. Timing belt maybe if it is coming from the front.

Sorry for the delay in responding. It is past time to change the timing-belt & I'm making arrangments to get that done. I listened again & settled on the Power Steering Pump. Drained out old fluid, replaced w/ Lucas & noise has reduced significantly. The truck is running very well. As I said I will get the T-Belt changed right after the Holiday.

Do these trucks have a history of P/S pump failure??
