Hi Guys, I'm looking for pictures of what the ceiling looks like under the headliner. If you have any pictures please share. I need to install a ham radio and will more than likely drill a hole in the roof. Need to know the best spot and if there is any soundmat glued to the roof. Thanks in advance.

Drill? I always use a knockout punch for the hole, much less damage potential, especially on such thin metal as I always seem to get cracks in the paint due to the metal vibrating so much while drilling.

Anyways, I ran my coax out the pressure release port behind the back seat and up between the cab and bed to a Larsen NMO mag mount near the shark fin on my 2017. You are a brave lad to drill the hole on your 2019! 73’s

When I say drill, I mean poke a hole somehow. I’ll probably die cut too. :) I’m not afraid to put a hole in the roof. I’ve always had holes and I live in Oregon. No leaks yet. Nmo mounts are double sealed so not worried. Wanna sell the truck, cap it and go. Never had a problem with resale either. But I need to make sure the metal is strong enough to support a Larsen 270 in the wind. Otherwise I’ll use the bed rail system and lose some awesome ground plane.

I always use the Larsen hole mounted NMO too, with a 5/8th wave 2-meter aerial and had no probs with it yet either, even when living in mountains where it often snowed several feet overnight and had over 10’ cumulative by January.

But I usually waited a few years of ownership before installing the hole! :)

The Tacoma is pretty tall, so I often bend my antenna down for trails and parking garages- just a thought about the mount type you may want to use.

You might be able to use one of the Factory Roof Rack holes that are already there.
