If you can't get things to work and you are in waterloo, I would recommend tony koebel at carstar on Northfield. I worked for him a few years ago. He is a straight forward guy that won't screw you over. I I were closer I would offer to stick my hanose in. But I live between grand bend and goderich. ... bit of a hike

It might just be sitting in the sweet spot of no man's land where it won't let anything work. It wouldn't be the first time that has happened. A good dousing with fluid film while it's apart wouldn't hurt. It's really tough to oil those hard to get at spots when the door panels are on. Good luck

Destroy the latch, from inside the door, with a die grinder.

    FUCKING GOT IT OPEN.

so I pulled back the sill protector and weather stripping. Notched the child safety lock down and it worked. Now I need to figure out why that happened but I am fucking stoked

edit: this leads me to believe that the child safety function was backwards? Still would be able to open it from the outside though

Good job. Now, after you fix the problem, test the latch, by latching it with a phillips screwdriver, about 10 times before closing the door.

lol yup. hopefullly my fuck ups can be used as future training aid.
For now the child safety lock latch is not moving freely up and down which leads me to believe its internal. ill have to break it down some more but this video helped a metric fuck-tonne with understanding how actuators work

So with all the shenanigans I went through, i thought it only right to show some of the function for the door actuator so you too dont fuck it up like me :p

red circle = child safety lock nub
purple-ish = activates the actual door mechanism

video goes through the function of all parts to confirm they are working correctly before placing inside the truck.

    Hope this helps!

Was there dirt in it? Have you found out what happened to it? Maybe over time it readjusted itself?

No idea what caused it to shut down in the first place. I did wash the gunk off of it in the cold which might have frozen some of the contacts. If I does die again I'll know how to replace it lol
