I've seen some deep irony lately but it's no surprise.

The former "drill, baby, drill!", stream-fording, truck-hunting, tortoise-crushing, regulations-are-for-commies, global-warming-is-a-hoax crowd is now "pro-environment" because a leftist black guy is in office, and an accident happened on his watch that was preceded by eight years of the worst anti-environmental President since Reagan.

Yes, the irony's about a mile deep.

I'm on the conservative side, politically, but not when it comes to protecting the only reason people are even alive on this planet. The blessed economy and job-creation are mostly details when you look at where survival really starts. You don't tread heavily on your only life-support system and call it economic growth or OHV rights.

I'm talking about the viability and pristine state of nature; keeping as much of it intact as possible. Not building more roads in wilderness just so someone can mud it up with different scenery. There are plenty of places to drive already, and tough luck if they shut more of them down. The planet is crawling with too many people as-is.

Protecting nature doesn't just matter when fishermen and hotel operators are hit by an oil spill. It's just the right thing to do all the time, but the far Right doesn't understand why. They are blinded by a prevailing "I'm the center of the Universe" attitude. Someone needs to teach them that Jesus isn't returning and they need to stop living like only today matters.

I'm not planning to get into a debate or add any more to this thread, because I know full well that not all off-roaders (of which I am one occasionally) are disrespectful of nature.

But the rest know who they are, and they really ought to be silent about the Gulf oil spill. They are major hypocrites, trying to act like the good guys and pin this on "Obammy."

The almighty free-market doesn not care what happens to the land or sea, or any life upon it; it only chases dollars around the world. Grown-ups should already know that from history. We need stronger environmental regulations and the far Right spends too much time trying to cripple the ones we already have.

That was random...anyhoos, I'll have extra butter, a LARGE Coke Cola, and perhaps a Milky Way...all those people crawling around as stated above are probably trying to find themselves...
