    Almost the same here Skip.

    I believe my Dad was in the Marines active for over 45 years, and yea, 3 wars. The last was Vietnam, and from 1967 to 1972 we were stationed in Hawaii on Ohau at Keneohe AFB, but he worked at Hickam AFB. When we moved back stateside he worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital to the end of his career. After he he retired he did volunteer work at Kennedy Krieger for The Shriner's & The Boumi Temple, and was Active as an Officer in two VFWs up until he couldn't no longer.

    The timelines seem wonky but that is because he adopted me and my brother when he married my mom when I was only 2. He was much older than my mom who was only 19 at the time.

    Yeah uncle was a highly decorated in the Navy he was one of the precursors to the SEALs. He retired from the Pentagon as an admiral playing battleship. He was one of my only family members to talk about the wars and his experiences. As a kid I use to just sit for hours as he told his stories. I really wanted to follow in his footsteps.

    Wow, that's way cool! Besides the moving around a lot, I honestly have nothing to complain about growing up. We were fortunate to have him. He loved my mom and us kids. He was a great dad.

    I complain a lot, but I used to love this job. Its what they did to me the last year I was on a ship and then this duty station I got shit into that has really made it unbearable to be a part of it any longer.
