Lots of things about this particular building are stupid. It's kind of a franken-building originally from the 30s but with three separate additions from different times. The last one with most of the current classrooms was done in 1997 and for some reason they used sheetrock ceilings with 1x1 grid tile glued to it in the hallways, but drop ceiling in the classrooms. Makes it a pain to pull new wire through. The network cabling was run to closets and just terminated with RJ45 ends--no patch panels--a few years back I cut every cable and punched them all down to panels. Head custodian there told me some of the light fixtures have remote ballasts up in the ceiling. No big deal for some--they were on drop ceilings where he can get to the remote ballast and replace it when it fails, others he says he's looked at plans and there would be no possible way to get to them without cutting the ceiling open. I could go on...

The building actually looks really nice for what it is, but when you actually have to work in it you realize how awful their thought process was for so many things.

That portion upstairs is done for the moment. May add some up there in the future, but, not on my radar at the moment.

I have an area that I want to do, but, substrate temp needs to be at a certain point to cure, so, I may end up waiting till spring. Its a small area, maybe 180sqft, BUT, it qill be a huge savings in airflow alone. Old balloon frame house... leaky...

    Sound deadening, fiberglass or roxul(sp?).

The more I dig the more cautious I become. Trapping moisture in places, is worse than allowing the heat out.
I WILL be adding something between the 2 "living" rooms... but, other than that....

On another note.. found some "dead space" in the wall for the upstairs hall... no, doesnt look like any treasure in there, but, it should be perfect for a built in linen closet....

I concur. An elderly womans on my streets little dog gets loose sometimes . I look out my window and my dog is playing with him ( Rocky). Rocky is mostly deaf. I was fortunate enough to recognize him from when he was tied up at his house when I walked my own dog around and put a leash on him and bring him home

Well the Ram apparently isn't crazy about winter blend fuel. I hand calc'd the mileage and I'm getting about 13 (when I don't have the plow attached) commuting back and forth to work. Odds are the thicker transmission fluid (because it's colder too) has something to do with it, too, since I pick up almost 2mpg's once it's up to temp. And I'm sure that the remote start in the AM's doesn't help either, even though it only idles for a couple of minutes before I leave.

With the plow on (and plowing) the mileage is around 10-11, which honestly isn't as big a drop as I'd expected but still doesn't make me really happy.

It was 26 when I hopped into the truck this morning. Back into the icebox tonight, though. Down around 12 degrees for the next couple of nights, then down into the single digits Friday night
