Unless you are facing a bear that is coming at you from upwind... Then you just marinate yourself pre-death

They can outrun a quarter horse first 50 yards. That's pretty damn fast.

Where's Daniel Boone when you need him?

I'm glad I don't live in bear country......I suppose I'd be ill equipped at the moment.

I like the .44 for hogs, too. I'd rather have it on bears if the need ever arose.

    First, welcome to TW

Second, maybe try venturing out of the 3rd gen section to other parts of the forum...like Guns and Hunting...information will likely be more useful

Carry the counter assault brand large bottle, The holster kinda sucks to attach to a regular pack, so I just keep an unholstered bottle in my easy to draw from water bottle pocket in my pack.

The best bear spray would be a 3 1/2 Magnum shell with 000 Buck.

And if a bear is attacking you wont care if it is illegal at that point. No one want's to die.

I think you are supposed to establish male dominance through aggressive urination and by nailing who or whatever is the hottest female in the woods. Let the bears know you da one.

I sprayed a black beer in my yard this year...never again. The spray even in a light breeze atomized so much that I got it in my eyes, chest and later lit my junk on fire when I got undressed and my exterior clothes came in contact with bare skin.

If you are not successful with the spray the thing will be on top of you and you are already immobilized from the spray. Not good.

Fingers crossed for a 2019 season...then it will get the matthews bow instead.

Depends on your application. If your looking to keep certain types of two-legged animals away, I hear wasp spray is very effective - 22 feet spray :anonymous:

I thought all you needed for protection from a bear was an RTT? Simply let the bear know that you are XPOAF, and they should turn around and leave you alone.

I carried spray when I was in Alberta, BC, Montana, on a bicycle. Never had to use it but I wouldn't hesitate to carry it again. If I did a trip where I'm moving slower or through brush I'd probably take bear spray, a pistol, and a buddy. I bought a 12-ga and .45 when I moved to where I'm at now since the black bears are numerous and inquisitive, but I wouldn't want to shoot a bear unless I had to. They're having a tough enough time with all of our McMansions and how-many-houses-can-we-fit residential developments.

.45acp I hear is way underpowered

10mm for semi auto or .357/44mag in a revolver. Are the typical Carrys for guides out west.

If you want to get crazy check out the glock 21 .460 rowland conversion
