Only dangerous if you apply a voltage to fire the airbags. Short all the pins together and tape them up with electrical tape. You'll be fine.

If you are super interested I can look up and cross reference some part numbers. I’m sure most if not everything in your seats will swap directly over to the TRD seats. And then airbags wouldn’t need to do anything unless you really wanted to remove them.

At this point its all curiosity. I’d love to have them but this time of year is the wrong time for me to buy truck parts. I’m usually selling them lol.

Realistically, if the lumbar knob swaps over and the seatbelt buckles swap over, the only electronics that have to work are the pressure switch in the passenger seat for the auto airbag sensor.

As far as i know, there is nothing power on the driver’s side at all...just the seatbelt buckle power for the dash indicator....right?

At least based on these part numbers from a quick search, your 08 should be the same as my 13:

    89178-06020 Seat rail sensor, Driver

    89952-35011 OCS Passenger ECU

So yeah for driver side the seat belt buckle and then also the rail position sensor that tells the srs ECU if you are sitting within a certain distance of the airbag to ascertain speed or force of deployment by what I’ve read.

And it all just transfers over from your current seats. The belt buckles as far as I remember have a length of wire loom with a connector that connects with another coming up from the floor. It’s the reason I kept my original buckles rather than swap to the black FRS seat ones. It was just easier to keep what I had.

The passenger seat weight sensor are 4 sensors, 1 at each corner of the seat that connect to a wire loom that connects to the little ECU that is fastened under the seat. It should be as easy as unplug the loom from your sensors and remove the ECU and replug into the TRD seat sensors and fasten the ECU to the new seat.

I can’t find a part number for the individual sensors to cross reference at the moment. I’m assuming based on the above items that they are the same.

Yo what’s the best UCA? I’m debating on either going Icon or total chaos. What do y’all think?

    Here's the official JBA thread.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-suspension-mega-thread-bs-thread.364484/

I'm also going to ask @EatSleepTacos to chime in as he has a lot more experience using these off road than I do.

    Basically though, some key points.
Allows for a higher than average castor adjustment. This helps you stuff larger tires with minimal lift.
The ball joint is serviceable and the parts are easily attained.
The price point is freakin' excellent for what you get.
They have three types. A basic OEM replacement, A High Caster Standard Duty and a High Castor Heavy Duty. Unless you are going to be jumping your truck or running Baja the middle of the road High Castor Standard Duty version is all you need.

    https://jbaoffroad.com/toyota/tacom...ster-upper-a-arms-for-2005-toyota-tacoma.html

Oh, these are made in America, and the customer service is awesome. They never run sales so don't waste your time.

A lot of guys that have the money for this modification will spend more. I suppose depending on the type of lift or suspension upgrades those more expensive UCAs are more suited or needed. I run the Bilstein 6112/5160 kit with a Headstrong Offroad 3 Leaf AAL. I can pretty much jump RR tracks at 55 mph on inclined roadway surfaces and the truck is planted and there is minimal suspension cycling. That's good enough for me. Plus they are read ( @Comatose @Justanotherhemi ) and I have an affinity for that color.

Check out that thread though and ask a lotta questions!

ECU isn’t the correct term, I don’t know why I said that, what I meant was a computer unit for the seat sensors.
