Paying someone to build your truck isn’t better than someone who buys a built truck off Craigslist, guy buying built truck off craigslist just saves a bunch of money. I’m all for dropping a truck off with someone like allco and paying for a sick build but I don’t think that makes the owner better than craigslist guy or much more of a builder. I generally think of guys like @Basikbiker and a few others on here as built themselves guys.

Hey man. If that makes you enjoy the truck more, more power to you. I enjoy trucks based off the merit of the truck reguarless of how it came to be. Most of the time I just see the “built not bought” title as a cop out or escuse for lower quality work.

or people can just appreciate others learning what goes into building a truck rather than just buying one done... built not bought is a stupid term.. internet fabbers on here get real pee pee hearted over that term.. glad you guys forge your own parts and tube rather than buying it all and bolting it on..

Ye there is alot of built not bought titled stuff out there that uses that term as a crutch for it being kinda shitty. And paying someone to build your vehicle is great...helps the economy and local buisness. But when u say you "built" the truck when u actually paid someone to create it I think is where the rub is...put your ego down and give the shop or guy credit that made the stuff for you...then go on about how you added a light bar and tweaked this to make this work and so forth... i dunno just seems like a mutual respect for each others stuff. In most cases with everyone I meet that's how it goes too and that's awesome! Shit I plug all the local shops I get my doodads and stuff from all the time and which people at business have helped me out to get where I'm at, because I love the offroad community and want to promote it and encourage people to build things themselves if they can or have the means to do so. That's how new innovative things come to light and things progress. I bought a shitton of pieces, parts and materials for my truck so yea technically I bought my shit...but the final product was something you cant find off the shelf and to me that's where the "built" part comes into play. Things as simple as hand built bumpers in a friends driveway is stuff that's built...not off the shelf. My 2 cents anywho. Have a good day everyone

This is my sentiment exactly. Buying things from bigger shops and manufacturers is good for the evolution of the industry. The thing that got me into building stuff was the fact I couldn’t afford to pay for the shops I wanted to do the work. I could only afford shops that built things a little more economical or plain. So my thing with my own stuff was always to build it so it looked like it was bought. I didn’t want someone to see my vehicle and immediately know I built it. I would rather them ask who built it and let them know I did, I built it in my garage. Not cause I wanted to, but because that was the only way I could afford what I want. Now I can afford to pay people, but I haven’t yet, because I feel like I’d end up micromanaging someone to do what I want who’s already capable of building better than myself.

I think people need to stop caring so much built not bought or bought not built(look at me:anonymous:) just go enjoy and take pride in what you have. Everyone's still dumps loads of money into our trucks.maybe you put hard earned money. Blood. Sweat. And tears. But I sure bust my back to use my hard earned money for my truck. Either paying for someone or buying parts. Just my 5 cents

Seriously. Who gives a shit if it's Built or Bought. Someone put some hard time Into the truck, just enjoy it. Appreciate that someone built an awesome truck, have some beers, Ooooo and Ahhhh over some cool things someone's got and just move the fuck on. People get so bent over backwards about labels these days.
