Manual transmission. I've driven friend's autos (not just Tacos) a few times in the past and they suck. Nothing more annoying then driving along at a certain speed in traffic and the transmission switches between 3rd and 4th about 20 times in a minute. Or going up a hill and the transmission lagging until it realizes it has to downshift. The only benefit is not having to clutch all the time in rush hour traffic, but I'm so used to it I barely care, plus I'd rather do that than have to hold my foot on the brake at every stop so it doesn't start creeping forward in an automatic.

I find the more technology they put in cars the shittier they get. I used to have an 07 car, then an 03 Tacoma I have up for sale, and now have a 97 Tacoma. All manual transmission, but my most recent is bare bones. No stupid power windows to freeze closed in the winter. No power locks to get annoyed at when they stop working properly like on my 03. It's the first vehicle I've ever owned where I've been able to fix all the problems to the point the check engine light isn't always on because everything is kept mostly simple.

Art, before you buy the $800 OVTune please try the $296 Pedal Commander, it comes with a 30 day return, money back policy, you have nothing to lose.
This evening went out with the wife for long drive her first time with the Pedal Commander and she was really impressed at the response and acceleration difference, coupled with ECT it is unstoppable. I have no affiliation with them.

wow - alot of judgmental fucks in this thread.

we've all been in situations where we need to turn across oncoming traffic. regardless of the scenario, the problem exists.

i have a very specific issue where at over 50% throttle, the truck will fall on its face after the 1-2 or 2-3 shift. TC/VSC disabled or on, ECT on or off, D or S mode. It does it about 50% of time. I have slightly taller tires and gears.

    I also have the TSB.

I also ran OVTune 1.04R tune and the same thing occurs.

The truck shifts and then just nothing and i lurch forward and then it picks back up. It is not TC or VSC but likely a calibration issue. I've read some have had this issue stock though.

From what I get, the truck is designed to cut off power to the engine in a turn. Don't know how it knows, GPS, steering wheel, differential? but power is cut off. I drove a Ram 1500 that would spin off tires in a turn and spun it 180* a few times to the point I was very careful when turning.
I know how the engine/truck behaves in turn, I calculate distance the time and make my move.
If you want to turn fast, turn ON the ECT and OFF the traction control. Make sure you don't spin, the back is light. Try it in a parking lot.

And that's exactly why I traded for a manual, road trip with family and got pinned between 2 18 wheelers, 2 weeks later I had a 6mt. F the auto.

Your first statement about judgemental fucks in this thread is a bit judgemental....

And now you're judging mental capacity of those same people in the post I quoted.

keep your ECT mode on all the time the truck will hold gear better . The manual is not any better those 1st and 2nd gears don't pull very well . Basically these trucks transmissions were not designed for street use . Off road this truck is awesome .

I Used ECT primarily for enhanced engine performance, for transmission control I use S mode.
It's a hell of a lot FuN to drive!

Still don't know why some folks don't get it

I think it will be better than a manual after ovtune's gear lock. Almost made me regret having the MT, but nah... Nothing's better than the real deal.
