What is the advantage of "Front Runner Gul Wing Doors" vs the windoors? To me they seem like they are the same thing...but there double the cost and seem to be very popular, so there must be something I'm missing?

 

Good question and I was about to ask this as well. The only thing I can think of is security?

 

Personally, I'm on the same page as you.
I got the windoors, and just made some basic blackout panels for them. I like having the option of seeing in/out or not.

But I believe the Front Runner doors are a bit taller and a bit shorter in length, if I remember right. That could be a big deal for some people depending on needs.
The latches are also basically flush instead of having the windoor handles sticking out a couple inches.
And, of course, don't forget that the Front Runner doors are EAF...

 

They're bigger, they're stronger, and the door handles are flush mounted.

I went with the normal ones.

Cool looking pooch! Have you tried it with just a buddy heater in your drifter? I sleep in my Softtopper all the time with -40 C bag and fire up a buddy heater occasionally when I'm not sleeping. It works well down to -20 C. But such a small space that the condensation is horrible.

 

I’ve tried it with the buddy heater as well, it was warm but the small camp propane tanks was all I had, they were sold out of the adaptor hoses to a large tank everywhere. It worked, its not my ideal heat systemtion. Not a huge deal, I just wipe down the ceiling.

Currently leaning towards a propex/Espar forced air system, through a company I gave a lot of business to over the last two years, aka I get a smoking deal That being said, I’m debating picking up a cheap Chinese 2kw diesel heater to try it out, think it was 300 bucks with all the fixings and it was getting good reviews on. We're using the Propex heaters. I think it's a better heater since most already carry propane for their stoves etc and the espar would require an additional fuel tank (even though it's small) and delivery system. If you run a diesel vehicle it's a great option over the propex.

 

I already have one of these, they're legit if you can get the around the fuel dosing issues.

 

Oh I know they are legit, i’ve Installed a few in our equipment and trucks. Just not sure what way to go yet. Still leaning towards Espar, but not having to carry another fuel source, hmm.
