Hopefully they get back to you soon..
It would be a good move IMO for Falken to take care of the problem quickly, or Discount and let them settle with Falken. And bad to try and blame it on your off road use, when they're designed and promoted for all terrain use etc.
I think everyone with sense gets how there can be lemons with products.. I'm currently about to go to Discount myself for the FOURTH time in two weeks, over a new set of KO2s that won't balance.. Already replaced one out of the original 4... First set of KO2s had two bad, but after getting the bad ones out, they lasted around 70k.
I was considering these Falkens, which is why I saw your thread.
Maybe I'll try the Toyo AT2 or newer General Grabber ATX if they have the load I want.

I beginning to think there's a hit or miss thing with tires.. And a sometimes hard to control quality at the factory with the compounds, maybe I'm wrong. But doesn't seem like it.

Good luck. If they do or don't fix it, let it be known, everyone should know about stuff like this.

They were built the 22nd week of 2018. I would go see the dealer you bought them from. Did you purchase any kind of warranty?

No additional warranty purchased. But I don't feel this should even be a warranty issue outside of the normal limits of the tire

I was about to ask the date of manufacturer as it wouldn't be the first time that shops sell 2-3 year old "new" tires but damn those are new as heck. Definitely a warranty issue

Just called Falken and they said they will not cover the blowout and MAY credit me for the cracked tires, not off to a great start but I have faith my offroad shop can take care of it.

Wow what? What's their reasoning? If the blowout and cracking due to manufacturer defect isn't covered by warranty then what's the warranty for? Especially for a tire advertised as a allterrain off road tire

Did they offer any kind of warranty when you purchased the tires?

Considering you bought 5 tires and rotate through them all I’ll prob be looking at the Coopers or Bfs, even if they are cheaper to buy it’s not worth it if they only last 10k

Your shop might have a good relationship with the tire rep, good luck !

they said blowouts happen from improper inflation. we'll see where this goes, discount tire is a good company and I'm not trying to finagle anything so i will take it to them and see what they can do as they have always been good to me.

I'm not ready to give up on Falken yet, I do believe this tire is great but I think i got a lemon. I scoured the internet for 2 hours last night and could not find anything about abnormal wear on these tire. idk if that helps or hurts my case

Big O Tire use to have the best warranty in the tire business if you bought there brand. That was before the Firestone disaster with all the blowouts with the ATX tires on the Ford explorers. Now Discount Tire probably offers the best Tire Warranty in the business. If you do any off roading or hunting like I do I would highly recommend dealing with Discount Tire if you have one in your area. I have had nothing but Great Luck with my local shop.

    UPDATE:

I went to Discount Tire after being told to pound sand by Falken and being ghosted by my always busy offroad shop.

The results? Well I am the owner of 5 brand new 285/75r17 (~34") KO2s. I opted for these as I wanted them from the beginning and they still earn the snowflake rating in terms of traction. Discount is swapping the brand new Wildpeak I bought last Friday for the KO2 at no cost, Falken is giving me 60% credit for my two other damaged tires, and nothing for the final undamaged tires. Between 1 free tire, 2 tires at 40% of cost and 2 tires at full price with labor, insurance and tax I'll be out the door for $900

It's a hard pill to swallow but ultimately I am happy that Ill be in a literal BIGGER, BETTER tire. They go on Tuesday, cab mount chop to be done Wednesday. And I'll be happy when my credit card is paid off.

    :sawzall:

    :spending:

    Thanks for everyones help!

This is terrible publicity for falken and sucks that you had to experience this. Hardcore kudos to @Discount Tire Direct for righting someone else's wrong. I can see why people love them

Yeah, I didn’t even necessarily want to leave Falken but after how I was treated they will never see another dollar from me. It’s in the past now but it still stings. @Discount Tire Direct has a lifelong customer at this point. I’m excited for the change but I just wish it wouldn’t have occurred under these terms
