Not for debate. Just tried and true opinion... Rear block

I had 4wheel Auto Parts do a front 2.25" spacer level kit on my 2018 DCSB TRD O/R 4X4 last November. I'm very happy with it and there has been no ill affects in handling, but it has just enough of a bro lean that it's pushing on my last OCD nerve and I can no longer ignore it. I've researched enough and spoke with 4wheel parts today and I know that for me, right now, I'm going to correct this with a 1 inch block lift in the rear (w/ new u-bolts). Looking for real world experienced Taco owners who have done a block lift; do you have any recommendations on which block kit to get. I've seen Toytec has one as well as Pro Comp and many others. Since I have the Pro Comp front spacer kit, I'm leaning towards the Pro Comp kit . Any suggestions?

 

I bought the 1.5” one from 4WP, like $80. Comes with blocks and ubolts. Been running it for over 40k miles with no issues.

 

Used Ready Lift blocks on 2 trucks now. seem very high quality.

 

They quoted me $120 today for the Pro Comp. I've seen cheaper out there, but we're talking $20-$30 difference...

 

I’m running 1.5 steel blocks... come tapered to correct for drive line angles paired with 5160 shocks about 20k miles now no issues...think they were $70 bucks with the j-bolts.

 

I'm still running stock rear shocks ( Bilstein 4600's). Only going up 1 inch so hoping they will accommodate for that 1 inch...

 

I ran ProComp front spacers and rear 1 inch blocks for first 8 months of truck ownership. Took the truck off-road many times and was happy with the lift for daily driving. Local Toyota dealer was also selling many of their trucks with this same lift. I at once even switched to 2 inch blocks for a bit due to sag with the weight of the rear camper. I later upgraded to the complete BP-51 setup and more happy with that overall off road comfort. But for what it's worth to the OP. I was happy with that ProComp setup for that part of my budget. Overall an easy install too if you are a do-it yourself person.

Zero issues and expect zero issues for the life of the truck.

 

Sorry for the ignorant questions this will be my first time doing a rear block. How are the blocks angled and in what relation to the axle and truck would the angle be mounted?

 

Do you want leved or with some rake?

If you want rake, a 1.5” AAL will also do the trick and is cheap.

Just want leveled. Also from what I've read, AAL may be a little above my paygrade as far as installing them.

 

That looks sweet. I may have to replace the rear shocks eventually...

 

I had a 1 inch block once .

 

I didn't think the shocks would do much but we've got some killer speed
bumps here at the office and there was a huge difference going over them
compared to the stock shocks.

 

I had a ready lift leveling kit in my truck for the first 50,000km front spacers and rear blocks, the only problem I ran into was the rear shocks eventually blew out. I don’t know if it was related to the kit or not though. Only one went and I replaced both.

 

I have 2 1/4 spacers up front and originally ran 1 inch blocks in the rear with stock shocks for about a month...the truck looked level to slightly nose high so I switched to 1.5 blocks in the rear with bilstein 5160’s now the truck looks level but the rear is actually 3/8 of an inch higher than the front. I’m happy with it. The blocks are tapered to maintain drive angles and prevent vibration and help minimize axel wrap...easy to install fat part of the block towards the rear and thinner part faces towards the front of the truck. My truck came factory with tapered shims I put those shims back in on top of the block see photo the truck is smooth with no vibration and my springs don’t squeak.

 

Right on! Thanks Ronzio, that's a huge help and nice to know that all is smooth with your drivetrain. Guess I need to decide on a kit and get it ordered so I can move on to the next project!!

 

Lowrange Offroad has a 1 inch block that is tapered.
I ran a 1.5 inch block on my 09 Tacoma from Toytec. Put a little over 300 thousand miles on it. Never had a problem and truck was still level when I sold it.
