Nothing will ever be designed 100% correct, they’ll do the best they can coming from previous generations but until there’s a significant amount of miles on the vehicle and a good amount of time has passed they won’t know the real world results

Hey personally I think they look tacky, if the boots were black, and only the TRD was red it’s be better. But at that point it’s basically just a need lid right?

Well it is more than a lid, but I am not going to try and convince you, but this is a good review.

I was skeptical as well, but to each their own! Cheers!

I realize it’s a little more in depth than I let on, but personally I think the small improvements aren’t worth the $475 price tag. Essentially you’re getting the look of the lid, and a reusable filter. But if that’s what your or anyone’s else’s cup of tea is, have at it

I paid $350, but like most Tacoma guys, we feel the need to modify our trucks. I prefer OEM upgrades and not many I can do. Will it change anything other than a look?? From people that actually have it, most say it is worth it, few not so much.
But it has been fun to read how some guys like to bash this option if nothing else!
I will follow up after some miles good or bad, but I have spent $350 in worse ways. Just trying to help others make up their mind considering this mod, that is what the thread is about.

I have 2 Trd intakes on 4Runner and fj cruiser. To be honest I can’t tell a difference in anything except sound of the intake sucking in air

By all means, I’m not trying to bash the product or anyone that has/is consider getting one. You’re truck, you’re money. I’m just saying that from a personal standpoint it’s not something I feel Justifies the price for what you get in return

I dunno like I said my truck came from dealer already installed someone told me it was just the top proportion with the pipes and a different air nozzle on front of box and someone else told me entire air box was replaced on theirs and when I looked at the sales thing nothing states what you get.

HPS performance products makes the intake tube which fits the factory CAI but it can be made to fit the TRD CAI with minor trimming...

There is a thread on here about the tune...some like it some don’t all I know is it works for me.

Toyota of Des Moines. I have bought a lot of Pro parts modifying my 2016 Sport, parts guy treats me right there. Seen the kit on cyber Monday $312 at a few Toyota dealers, probably equal after shipping?? Price went up the next day.

I bought the intake from McGreagor Toyota in 5 parts minus the filter which I already had, got $280 in it. I just like the clean factory look and hope to increase some throttle response.just ordered the intake Tuesday, haven't been delivered yet. Excited! Next mod will be heating my Katzkin leather seats, getting cold in NC!

How was your truck tuned, what equipment was used? Was this a flash or was it ran on a dyno? Thanks!

I'm happy with mine! No noticeable changes other than sound. Pre "engine stumble tsb" it seemed to have better pickup. The TSB totally changed the truck and I love driving it, the sound from the CAI just helps me go through more gas :D

I installed the AFE momentum intake (with scoop) about a week ago. I noticed a little more pickup but it mostly just sounds more aggressive. Lower gears are more throaty which is nice. Not much drone but if it gets stuck in higher rpms around 3rd it will drone a little.
