Don't take this the wrong way, but I find it incredible people go to the trouble to start a thread when it's takes half as many keystrokes to get all the answers off google.

If you google "Toyota 4.0 V6" the first result is a Wikipedia article detailing the entire history of every 1GR variant. Just saying.

I work on car carrier ships and we just dropped off a load of 70 and 200 series Land Cruisers all brand new to Dubai. Every single one was equipped with the beloved 4.0L, built to Euro(IV) spec. I'll make a post with pics as soon as i can.

Thank you all. I didn't realize my engine was a vvt engine. I'm just learning about this new truck of mine. I've been told those vvt engines are extremely complicated to work on, even for trained mechanics. That is a disappointment. But boy it sure performs beyond my initial expectations, and the 6 speed manual is AWESOME for pulling a trailer.
