Had this on my Tundra, major improvement. No more lag and a lot more responsive. Faster? Probably not and if by any. Funner to drive yes. When pulling out to pass and stepping on the gas, zero delay.

 

What squabble? Correcting someone that wrote wrong information? What is wrong with you people? So soft and sensitive? PMS? Your skin is paper thin. Why do you get so mad when someone corrects you? I wonder what would happen if you used a Sprint Booster AND the ECT Button. Whoaaa mind blown

 

What's the difference between this and ect power?

 

From what I've read ECT will hold the gears longer; i.e., not necessarily shift into 6th going 45mph. (Yes, some sarcasm there but the 3rd Gen seem to be so quick to get to 6th for fuel economy.) Using ECT should not change the "pedal feel". At least I don't notice any.

What this and the Pedal Commander claim to do is fool the ECU into thinking you have pressed the accelerator further than you actually have. The theory is the throttle body will open more because the ECU thinks you have smashed the pedal down. And because of this you may have better pedal response to get the truck going.

I've been reading about these 2 products as well as the Shift Sense Pro. I cannot stand the fact that I have to really smash the pedal to get a downshift at times so I'm researching some options.

I like it.

these trucks (2nd gen) have never "pinned you to your seat" without mashing the pedal to the floor....then if you are between gears it lurches to a lower gear...(i hate these transmissions).

with the sprintbooster, it feels like a "sprint booster".
you def feel that the truck is quicker only by the fact that it can accelerate so much faster.

there is no HP improvement whatsoever, just lighting throttle response.

 

Some of us are old enough to remember a time when cars had carburetors and mechanical throttle linkage.
If this booster replicates that... Im all for it.
These lazy electric throttles suck.

 

Funny, I went through this same pissing match on the Audi forum. Seems every forum has an armchair engineer trying to tell people how things are supposed to work.

I had this in my Audi S3. Despite all the engineering theories, all it does in the real world is pretty simple. Step on the gas, and the engine reacts faster. It gets rid of the built-in throttle delay from the factory drive-by-wire programming.

Thats why I just ordered a pedal commander on sale...I thought it was a nicer package. Bluetooth now so you can just hide it under the dash. I hate the LAG on the factory setup! Not installed yet!

 

after glancing through the manual.....(you always do that after you install and review it, right?!?! )

the 3 modes are:

Off (factory)
sport (30% improvement in response) setting 1-9
race (60% improvement in response) setting 1-9
18 diff settings

they have a throttle lock as well....freaky feeling to push down and nothing happens.

I've had the Sprint Booster for a few months and it does make a HUGE difference in throttle response! It doesn't add to the power, but you get to what power is there much quicker. You have to keep adjusting it until you find what you like.

Because of my job, it looks like I am going to have to get a bigger truck. This, along with an almost new set of Wet Okole seat covers, will likely be hitting the "For Sale" thread soon.

 

What a good way to spend your morning. Reading through over a hundred responses about the Sprint Booster. Most of them between two guys that want to argue about what the thing actually does to your trucks throttle (They both like the thing by the way).

I bought my 2017 Tacoma earlier this year and I am really disappointed in the way the throttle responds to the gas pedal. If I want to overtake someone I literally stomp the pedal to the floor, wait almost a second, then maneuver around them. I think I stomp the pedal more from frustration than necessity. This has been such a disappointment that I considered trading it in already.

I believe the SB will actually do what they advertise (Allow the throttle to respond faster). Not just increase the output from the APP (Acceleration Pedal Sensor). I can't say I understand how they do it, but I saw enough positive feedback about it and watched several videos. They have me convinced to buy one. I'll be getting it soon and responding back with my thoughts.

I'm not a racing enthusiast, but I'd be embarrassed if I couldn't tell the difference between faster throttle response and increased output from the pedal.

I never saw the results from when you took your truck to the track. I'm curios to know how that turned out.

 

Good luck Dwntyme229. I too had the same thoughts re the throttle and in general, the transmission, but I stopped trying to cure something that was maybe just my truck.
