I’m thinking high fire danger is going to mean much higher premiums going forward. And the number of companies offering insurance in California may go down because of the high losses. Overall, insurance rates will likely go up too.

AAA, State Farm and most of the other big companies will no longer insure in the high fire hazard areas. I have heard Nationwide has been good about writing new policies in some of these areas. We are house shopping and Farmers was willing to grandfather us in if we transferred our policy from our current home but would write a new policy if we kept our current residence as well. Our Farmers policy has close to doubled in the last 3 years as well even though we have never had a claim.

Anyone have an AC 4x4 rear drive shaft I can borrow for 30-40 minutes?

Beer and lunch can be provided, HJs if you're pretty enough, XJs if you're ugly enough or ZJs if you're rich enough.

When we bought up here, there weren't many options for insurance. In fact, Meced P&L was pretty much the only one that would, and now they're bankrupt. My current policy expires at the end of the month (haven't been officially notified yet), but I know people in the area that have been dropped over the past couple years by their big-name insurers.
This whole insurance game is going to greet a whole lot more difficult...:(

When we bought our house last year above Sonora, we went to a local insurance agent because they are the ones who know what companies will insure in a given area.

With all of the catastrophic losses in recent years it is likely that most if not all insurance premiums will see increases in the next few years to help recover from those losses. :frusty:

I have all the armor you have except two of my skids are aluminum. I cut fenders and have the cab mount chop so I'm doing semi ok in the clearance department. Probably need a little deeper cmc, and some more pinch weld hammering. But the ride is nice. Like a caddy on the freeway. Offload is nice, especially when aired down.

It's pretty much a game of numbers and why earthquake and flood insurance is now separated out of your regular insurance policy. I'm sure you're gonna see fire added to the list of exclusions pretty soon. By fire, I mean wildfire.

Yeah, and it's all going to cost...
Hell, my monthly impounds are already over $500/mo for my existing insurance policy and property taxes. :annoyed:

If you find you have no options you can try California Fair Access, they will have a coverage for you but I have no idea on cost. You might need to purchase a separate liability policy as well.

I figured it wouldn't be cheap and the coverage probably sucks. Let us know if you find anything, many of us might find ourselves in the same situation soon if these fires keep happening.
