I have done some minor trimming but I am a little hesitant to cut too much as I don't really know what I'm cutting...

I still have stock UCA's. I had to get the new wheels first because the tires were contacting the UCA's. I am planning to get the alignment checked this next week. I bought a lifetime alignment with a shop in Cedar Park. I'll look and see what the last numbers were but I'm sure it has changed. What should I tell the tech to shoot for when I take it in?

 

With stock UCA's, you may not get to the ideal #'s.
Ideal alignment #'s for lifted Taco's is:
Caster: 3.5* +/- 0.5* (The more, the better).
Camber and toe MUST be to factory spec.
Torque alignment cam bolts/nuts to 130ft#'s.

With stock UCAs, I've found that the easiest way to get the alignment shops on-board is to tell them, give me camber and toe at 0, or very close, then as much caster as you can.

Depending on how much lift, it may be tough to get the caster up in to spec. Keeping the camber in spec is critical and caster has to be sacrificed to do so.

 

Fully agree. That's why I specify the first two as close to zero, then give me as much as you can for caster, given toe and camber requirement.

I am only running 5100s at .85 with stock springs and my camber only gets to about 2.0. But having the other 2 at close to zero makes it drive much better on the highway.

 

I have the lifetime alignment @ Brake Check over on 1431 right across from 1890 Ranch.

Here are my numbers from the last alignment

 

I'd say low caster is why you rub. Once you swap to aftermarket UCA's you'll be able to pump those numbers up in to a more ideal position and eliminate your rub. If you need help with that and/or a CMC (Cab Mount Chop) let me know.
