I’ve contemplated getting a lift of some kind for awhile. I see the Quick Jack pop up quite often. Has anyone got or used one of these? They are quite a bit less than a full fledged lift and might be capable of doing anything I’d need it for.

Costco has the 5000 lb. version for $1350 CDN which seems like a pretty decent price. I think that should big enough for a DCLB Tacoma.

Looked it up, pretty neat. Looks like it’s for garages with custom fancy flooring. Oh well, it would be nice if I could put a car in my garage anyways. :)

?? It says you can use it in the dirt as long as it’s flat.

JK- too fancy for me, but if I had a Porsche Spyder convertible, I’d use it to make a table out of my Spyder in my drive-in living room:bananadance:

I have the 5000 and it is very stable and safe on level ground. I bought it to use on my Porsche. It would work great on a Tacoma, but full disclosure is that I have not used it on my Tacoma as there is enough room under the truck for general maintenance without it. I will lift it one of these days just to see how high I can get it without using the not included truck lifting stand type blocks you can purchase separately. Great addition to any garage. Fast, simple, and stores in small space.

Off topic but I just rewatched Generation Kill and this topic made me think of the Combat Jack.

Would you mind trying your Tacoma on it. I’d like to know what kind of clearance you would have.

I will post a picture of the Tacoma in the air on the QuickJack. Keep watching, not sure when I will get to it.

Been looking at one for my 392 Challenger. I'm a little concerned about driving it over the top because the chin spoiler is really low.
I don't really have the space to be able to slide it in from the side.

    Thoughts?

The frames are 3" high. Many store them on floor under parked vehicles. If you have more than 3" clearance on your front spoiler you are good. This is a very popular item in the Porsche community. I store mine against a wall and move them into place as needed. They have rollers on one end so are pretty easy to move around. Quick Jack is so much faster and secure than jack stands.

I don’t think you’d have to drive over it. I believe you could just slide them under the car from the side, similar to the way a two post lift would work. I have a lowered M3 with very low front clearance as well, but I think this would work fine.

I came into these after having a friend have a permanent similar style mounted on the end of his driveway. I thought it was great for tire changes, wheel/brakes, and getting clearance for transmission and centerline work (drop out the bottom). Not everybody has clearance for lift towers and leaving equipment outside long term isn’t ideal. The ability to store this is a HUGE selling point. Would I like a four post? Sure. I don’t have the space or the pocketbook for it though...

Forgot to ask you. Which 5000 model do you have, the regular one or the EXT version?

You could always back over it in reverse and not have to worry about the chin spoiler at all.
