Hello TacomaWorld, I have a 2012 SR5, pretty basic setup but it came with backup camera and bluetooth. This past summer my radio started to not work when it gets to hot outside. Now that we are in the winter I am finding that after around 20 minutes it overheats and stops working if/when I restart the my truck.

Has anyone else had issues with their stock stereo overheating? If so is there a way to fix it with out replacing the entire head unit?

Apologies if this has been addressed in the past, i searched and couldn't find anything.

Stop playing Led Zeppin and full volume. A little Mantovani will chill it down.

    No?

I know the one out of my 2015 has a computer type fan on the side of it, maybe it has gone or the sensor that tells it to turn on is toast. You would have to pull it out, leave it hooked up and try it to see if the fan comes on or not. If not find one out of a wrecking yard as the cost to fix it probably would work out to a junker one.

Better to just replace with an aftermarket.

I've heard if you put an ambien in the CD slot while playing Mantovani it has a very calming effect.

I pulled the it out to see if was anything obvious but I didn't see a fan in it. I will have to check it again. I will probably go with the after market approach, I cant stand the built in Bluetooth technology in this model, it is not intuitive at all.
