Bungie's Destiny

The only thing I ever complained about was Prison of Elders. That expansion sucked. The only good thing to come out of that was Trials. I've never once complained about the grind. In fact that is one of the parts of the game that I love. Grinding for that god roll weapon.

 

I absolutely love it when brawler comes up on the daily strike list. I never even fire a shot throughout the entire strike. Fan of knives the entire time and I'll always get more kills than anyone.

 

If you were ever on destiny forums back then if it wasn’t vault of glass it sucked. I rarely saw anything positive in that time.

I haven't checked Hawthorne, but I think I am sitting at 3500 of 5000 clan bounty right now.

I think what @lockwire24 was saying is that if you saved a completed bounty from last week to turn in this week, you likely mucked up this week? I didn't have any saved.

• Hawthorne's Weekly Engram: We are investigating an issue where players who don't pick up their Weekly Challenge engram from Hawthorne during the week it was earned are unable to pick it up the following week and can't earn a new engram.

 

I had saved enough clan bounties from last week and they worked no problem on all 3 characters. Gonna try the forge tonight. I heard Ursa titans do pretty good with it.
Wish blind well gets fixxed soon. That's all I need for my titan. Didn't bother with any dreaming city stuff with my hunter because of blind well issues. Missing 2 powerful engrams because of it!

 

Well, then I might be bugged as well -- didn't really play much last week, but if an engram was earned it was not there this week. Will have to check my Hawthorne progress like @4x4Runner.

 

I've been with Destiny since D1 Alpha. Sure there were times that people complained about different things in the game on the forums. Guns getting nerfed, guns that needed a nerf, lack of content rolling out, etc... But rarely have I seen anything like this release. So much so that Bungie actually took action immediately and lowered the power level of entry into the first forge. Since Activision took over Bungie it has been a shit show. They rushed Bungie to release the game last year before it was even remotely completed and we paid the price for it. If it didn't release by Sept of last year Bungie would lose it's stock options and rather than create a game that catered to everyone they released a game that catered to only the casual player base. That in itself nearly brought Bungie (and Destiny) to an end because it left EVERYONE with nothing to do after the game was completed.

The Black Armory has been one of those shit show releases. As I mentioned yesterday in depth how the public (and myself) has received this expansion, the forums lit up and Bungie, to their credit, changed how the game works. I admire them for that but I just don't understand how anyone at Bungie thought what they released in its original form was a good idea?

The exclusion of Trials is still one of the biggest mistakes they have made in a very long time. Everyone knows what that want in Trials. We all want 3v3 Elimination to come back as it was in D1. That was the one thing that kept D1 alive due to all the streamers playing Trials every weekend. It was the best PvP experience that we've had to date because "hero" moments were created. Excluding Trials from this expansion was a huge mistake. It doesn't appear Trials will return until at least Feb. and by then I think it will be too late because no one will care. Especially if they do anything other than 3v3 Elimination.

I won't go so far to say that I'm done with Destiny when Anthem comes out unless Bungie continues to release expansions like they did this week. My "personal" opinion is Destiny has pretty much run its course. Considering they are recycling old weapons from D1 makes me think they are starting to run out of ideas. Don't get me wrong... I still enjoy the game even if I criticize it. I criticize it because I want the game to be good. And for the last three months it "has" been good. In fact... it's been the best it's ever been. That said... There have been rumblings of a D3 coming out in the future but if it keeps going this way... I'll be very surprised if D3 actually comes to fruition.

I'm buying Anthem when it comes out because I like the idea of a more MMO focused game. That game seems to have more character customization than D2 (which by the way they took away from us coming from D1). If I like it more than D2 I'll play it. But I'm not getting hyped about it. The last game I got hyped about was The Division and it sucked. It was nothing like what we were promised in the original gameplay footage of the game release at E3. We got a shell of that. I hope that isn't the case with Anthem.

 

It's strange how it's only affecting certain players. I've picked them up each week and was able to turn them in each week? I've even turned them in a week late before in the past and was still able to complete the next weeks engram. I'm sure it's just a bug that they will figure out. It does suck if you are one of those affected though.

 

Well, the bean counters have already spoken. Forsaken wasn't as popular as they had planned. That basically tells you they are going to try to maximize the existing investment, and pull back any additional investment until things look better. Smart business decision. Based on the sloppiness of this release compared to others, I'd say they have already started to pull back funding. Less testing, reusing existing assets, providing workarounds like "walk slowly and hug the right wall." Really? WTF Bungie.

I'm actually more disappointed than angry. I'm having fun, just a casual player anyway. I've got RDR2 to get through, the new Assassin's Creed, still need to finish Tomb Raider. Plenty of other options.

 

The bean counters at Activision jumped the gun when they found out that Forsaken came in 8th in sales for the quarter. What they failed to realize was 8th is a damn good place to be in considering some of the games that were released during that time and some games that are extremely popular at this moment.

Destiny is the only game of its type on the market. But it has to go up against games like Fortnite, Pub-G, etc... you tell me in four years those games will still be around. Nah... they will have run its course a long time before that.

The issue is, the people that have been burned by Bungie are not going to come back no matter how good the content is. The casual player base they created last year damn near ruined the game and almost brought it to the brink of extinction. That’s why there are so many challenging things to do in D2 right now because they want to keep the players that are heavily invested in the game playing. I’m one of those people. I don’t play the game casually. I play it for the challenge and everything it has to offer. Those that just want to run in every once in a while and shot shit in the face can do just that. But they are missing the best parts of the game.

 

Haha. I remember having to something similar with Archons Forge in RoI to get it to work.

 

LOL. Well, I'm not quite that casual -- I still like eventually leveling up to max and taking on the hard content, and with the amount of time I put in, I don't expect to be able to do it in the first week of a release.

Forge is done. We figured out a strat that works pretty well. You will need a WL with a well and Lunafaction boots and preferably two hunters with Blade Barrage. The way we did it was basically pack hunt. We stayed close together and pretty much ignored the adds and only focused on the blue enemies and threw the bombs. The hardest part is dealing with the Colossus that come out on the second round. You pretty much have to focus fire them down but they drop three bombs and add quite a bit to the timer.

Once you get to the third round there is a rock on the left hand side as you walk into the encounter. Jump on that rock and have the WL drop the well and nothing can kill you while you are standing there. Take the bosses shield down and burn him down with all of your Thunderlord ammo at one time. Once you run out of ammo in your Thunderlord go in with your Blade Barrage and burn him the rest of the way down. We had a hunter that was running Arcstrider (which isn't the best for boss damage) and he was able to keep him stunned and we shotgunned him the rest of the way down.

Once we figured out that we just need to ignore the adds it went really quick. You will die. There is no way around that. But it's all about extending the timer by killing the blue enemies and throwing the bombs. Pretty simple fight once your figure it out.
