Anybody here put the Old man Emu lift enhancers spacers or the trims packers on to get a bit more front height? My 883s have drooped quite a bit more than the rear, I have pretty good rake. And I haven’t even installed a winch yet.

To avoid the 1/2 of lean on driver side.... what would be the solution?

I'm totally OEM at this point , lurking web to see options to change suspension ,

General Springs has the regular option for 129.00 each side, each leaf for the left and right specifically ,
General HD package is 179 per side , l got to correct myself , the part number too specific for left and Right, that may help ?.

Is the leaf pack the reason of lean ?

From what I understand it is because of the gas tank being on the driver side. You can use a trim packer or spacer on the driver side to help with the lean.

Some companies even make the leaf spring different load to help with the lean.

Or you can just live with it because that’s common on these truck and so far I haven’t read where it negatively effects the truck to where it has to be changed. I did what I could and stopped worry about it, not even noticeable if I still have it.

mine was extremely noticeable on stock suspension, not so much with dakars, 882s and a trim packer on the driver coilover

They also make a heavy duty spring it has 4 leafs and a over load vs oem 3 and a over load. They were not much more $. If they are side specific then yes it will help the lean, the drivers side will be arched higher to handle the weight of the gas tank. If you dont want 4+ inches unloaded in the back and 2 or so instead this is a good option.

Or go with the shim under the coil bucket on the drivers side.

Considering yours is a V6 DC the 880'sand Nitrochargers might be just about right considering how stiff the front end is on my RC 2.7. However, you may want to get opinions from others that actually have that set up. In the rear I love my Deaver J59's and the Nitrochargers. My rear is better than the front and I carry about 500lbs on the back of mine almost year round. With the lift you want and for the weight you carry I wouldn't be surprised if the exact set up I have wouldn't be just about perfect for you short of going with Kings or something else. You'd have a nice ride and very good road manners. Before I put all this new stuff on the old suspension had me slowing down to 5 mph over speed bumps and deep gutters. The truck would jump to the right or left going over bridges, expansion joints and on rough paved roads at high speeds.. It would go into a broad slide at even the thought of tapping the brakes on washboard dirt roads. After the new stuff I can hit anything on a paved road at 80 mph and be fine. Well, except large objects like dead animals, auto parts etc. :D There still is some minor loss of control hitting the brakes on washboard. that, I suspect only Kings or some other boutique brand could fix.

Still, I'd consult those with 880's on a V6 DC for their opinions.

Agreed. Some days I think I see the BroLean? Other days I don't really see it. I gave up worrying about it. If it's really there, it hasn't caused me any problems. Maybe my OE and Deavers fixed it but I still "think" I see it from time to time with a full tank. I stopped looking for it after I stopped worrying about it.

Try tuning in your brakes. If the rear end washes out put more braking to the front. Sounds like your proportion valve is off.

Hmmmmmmm. I never thought of that. You could very well be right and even with the mild lift I got from my Deavers it could have screwed up the proportioning valve setting. In the back of my mind I've always had the thought that with even the mild lift I have over stock (about 1.5 -2") I probably should install one of those brackets that repositions the proportioning valve.

    Thanks for the advice.

I just tweaked the rod by hand till the rear locked up first. Then un bent it a little, so the front loads up before locking the rear. The front is 80% of your stopping power.

No problem being light in the rear lifts it first like a nose dive. Locking up your rear drums pre maturely.

No problem, just a suggestion

I just picked this as one example of the lift most in this thread seem to getting with OME. I have SAW COs with 700# springs and my hub center to bottom of fender height is 22.5" DR side and 22.75" PASS side. Do I need to swap from COs to OME struts to be able to get more lift?:notsure:

Does anyone know roughly what the "lift" is in reference to hub to fender heights?

SOLD - 2002: TRD PreRunner with a DERP sticker, some desert stripes, couple of rock scrapes, E-locker, OME front & rear w/Dakar leafs, and CURT front/rear hitches.
Had this 880 kit with dakars on here for a year and a half. The back sat a bit higher when I had gear back there. It's definitely taller in the rear. I never felt like I got 2" in front with the 880s, but it handled worlds better than the stock setup. This '02 taco's going up for sale, so I bought another set with 881s for my newer '03.IMG_1874.jpg

Just glad UPS was able to hide the box so well...
    IMG_1841.jpg

My '03 has what looks like a 1" body spacer in the front. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I want to keep that, or scrap it.

After reading as much as I can without my head exploding, I jumped the gun and purchased 5100’s front and rear with 881 coils, Dakar’s CS019r leafpack. My original suspension has 302k on it. I was debating this setup with the full OME kit. A whole lot of valuable info was gained from this thread and I appreciate the wealth of knowledge that is on here.

I’ll have it installed sometime next month and will report back with before and after pictures

That's the exact same setup I'm working on installing on mine right now. 237k original miles on the suspension. It was completely shot.
The front ride has smoothed out incredibly so, I can't wait to get the dakars installed

I would be interested to see this setup after you get it installed I have an '03 DC 4x4 with 333K on the original suspension. I've been weighing getting the full OME kit or piecing together a setup with Bilstein 5100s. Where did you end up ordering the individual parts for your setup from and what was the overall cost compared to the complete OME kit?

I pieced it together on Wheelers website, the parts were on sale at discount. The OME kit was roughly $1,200 plus or minus some here and there. What I ordered came out to be $843 plus $100 shipping.

Edit: they also gave me a TW discount as well.

Care to help me put together a parts list? Am I missing anything below:

    - Bilstein 5100s front
    - Bilstein 5100s rear
    - OME 881 Coils
    - Dakar’s CS019r rear leaf spings

Did they recommend purchasing new bushings, hardware, etc.?

That's why you should only measure from the center of the hub to the fender. It won't matter what size tires he has then.

What did you use to get those stock rims black? I am wanting to get mine like that and get bigger all terrain tires on my new to me red 2001 tacoma. Thanks
