Good to know. Like I said I picked up two different psi blowoff valvues not sure. I think if I remember right the ARB has a safety cut off for 100psi so I don’t think I’d ever reach the full 150psi of the tank.

Ok, I’m gonna have to pick up a check valve just Incase, I’ve been stock piling ARB fittings from 4wheelparts, this weekend when I get home I’m gonna mount up the tank and quick connects then measure out my lines, ARB makes a few different lengths, so measure twice cut once I guess.

Just my input, take as you will. I had the 1 gallon ARB tank and it was pretty much useless. If you are gonna go with a tank I would suggest getting a bigger one. Maybe 3 to 5 gallon.

I feel you, I do. But I have no place for a 2.5 or bigger tank. I’m not taking my spare out, keeping it under the truck and I can’t have a tank that sits below my frame, so a 1 gallon fits perfect. It isn’t to operate anything crazy, just as a nice reserve in the event I need it.

Large, small, or none at all really depends on usage.

about to start my OBA. I am using tuff stuff 5.65cfm air compressor. same as the smittybilt 2781. it has a max amp draw of 45 amps, and i am mounting it behind the seats. I chose 6 gauge wire and it is MUCH larger than the factory wire, so how would i splice them together? im skipping a tank this time around, but i am running a pressure switch, manifold and disconnects at the front and the rear.

also can i run the ground to somewhere behind the seats?

great idea. i was thinking about using ring terminals and a bolt to hold them together lol

do you think it is okay to ground behind the seats?

i am running a 60A circuit breaker and the power wire will only be turned on when i pop the hood and turn the breaker on

Just finished up my OBA. It’s ARB twin compressor mounted on the Slee off-road bracket. Used some 1/4” NPT fittings from a local hardware store. They also has some high temp hose I could cut to length there, so picked up 20’ of that. Got it all plumbed up, put in a 1gallon viair tank, and 2 quickconnects. Overall the system is great, since the twin compressor has a shut off at 100psi I should never reach the full potential of the 150psi tank. So far I’ve used a impact just to see how it performs. After about 4 lugs the compressor kicked on but pressure was good to get the last two. It takes about 2 minutes to reach the 100psi for the compressor to kick off from empty system.

    What hasn't been modified?
The twin has an internal pressure switch of 150psi

up to you but a copper wire back to the battery is the best conducting and most fool proof. No worries about rust inhibiting conductivity. Yes the frame is all grounded but do you really want to run 40A through all the bolt/rivet connections?

That’s good to know, the guy at 4wheel parts told me 100. Thank you for the knowledge.

I just didnt want to have to deal with running two 6g wires somehow in the cab. i agree though that it is the best way.

People ground Amps to sheet metal all day long. For your air compressor that would be just fine. Your 6ga is a bit overkill anyways, compare your wire to the 2 wires that come with the ARB twin at something like 15ft long.

Always look at the manufacturers spec sheet and don't believe a word a retailer says.. Especially 4whpts

Yeah according to all the amp charts I am seeing 6g was the way to go. I don’t understand how arb gets away with what looks like 10g wire

It's 2 of them, so essentially it's like 5ga wire. The ARB "Twin" compressor is just 2 of the singles bolted together

The ARB twin compressor comes with 8 ga power wires in their install kit. One set for each compressor in the twin setup. ARB recommends connecting directly to the battery. So you end up with two connections at the battery for each compressor, a total of 4-8 ga wires to the battery.
