I agree with this. I think people expect far too much from these trucks. I used to have a 3/4 ton duramax. I pulled our 5000 lbs dry weight trailer. Wet weight was somewhere around 6300 pounds. It pulled that trailer fine, but three tons is a lot of weight. It would never cross my mind to pull that much weight with a Tacoma. And if I did, id just be happy to keep it moving down the road.

I am aware of that, the Post was to show that they exist.

According to Nissan's US website, they do not exist.

Bully for them, if it means more Taco drivers, then so be it.

@nevadabugle - I've towed about 2500lbs worth of trailer and goods from St. Louis to the east coast in a 2016 SR, never felt a thing. These trucks are capable haulers, but I agree with you, anything over 5k I'd be hands wet on the wheel.

Here's an idea for Toyota.... DITCH THE DRUMS. seriously.

Yes the brakes are biased towards the front and all of that, but swapping from drums to disks should NOT be an aftermarket thing. It's 2019 (nearly) for goodness' sake.

Anytime I have gone on their site it shows them, could possibly be a Zip code thing.

i had Wilwoods on a previous car. they would stop the planet. but I've also seen how much is involved with the rear conversion. meh. maybe if i go with the twins i can justify it. but no plans for that. still like the NA for now.

One of the main reasons I upgraded to a Tundra. Anytime I backed my TT in I would throw it in 4Lo. Also on any incline acceleration was a massive chore. My TT weighs in right below 4K loaded....

Consistency happened for me with the ECU TSB. I loaded it myself instead of messing with the dealer.

Feel and modulation, esp on downshifts, came from the accumulator delete.

I might be doing it wrong (self taught), but I never have had a problem with clutch wear. When shifting, engaging the clutch is not a constant motion. I slow the motion slightly when the clutch starts to grab to be sure the revs are matched, more so on downshifts. This was hard to do well before the delete. In the extreme, I now can drop it into 1st at 20mph or so and it is buttery smooth. A smooth downshift into 1st while rolling at any speed was not possible for me with the accumulator.

BTW: I am just starting to get a click in the pedal on the engagement stroke. There are several threads about getting some disk brake grease (tenacious) in and around all moving parts of the pedal. It has been noted to be a more permanent fix than the TSB which replaces the pedal and M/C, which tends to bring the problem back over time and lead to other problems due to the tight access in that area. Note that we have metallic M/Cs, so that should not become a problem.

Nope. I average 18.5 mpg and I drive up 2500 feet of elevation on my way home from work. No issues with reverse either. Have't put a trailer on it though.

Couldn't hurt. Hell even my CDL has to be renewed every 4yrs... and I still miss some questions on tests when I have to get back my Hazmat endorsement... and thats every 2 yrs... youd think Id stop procrastinating it so I could avoid having to test again every time... but oh wells.

Some people in this thread likely need someone with HAZMAT to clear their cab fumes out for them.
