my truck has 250,000 miles and if I do some fab work the truck is worth about 8k according to Kelly blue book. Should I sell it and get a newer/less mileage truck. Or lift it and run it to the ground.

To be fair you're asking a bunch of dudes who love their Tacoma's so much they joined a forum for it, so... I vote keep it.

So, you're 16, the truck was just given to you, you won't have a license for 5 months, and already you're considering selling it? Just curious how you're going to afford something newer.

Edit: Also curious, who's paying the insurance on that truck?

I would've done anything at 16 to have a Tacoma. Last thing on my mind would've been selling it.

I think you need to be focused on other things in life rather than pouring money into vehicles.

You have a free vehicle that has a new frame and no issues. Keep it and calculate how much you will need to save by realistic future date to replace it. And save that money. Don’t worry about replacing a historically reliable vehicle until it stops being reliable or you have the cash to buy your next vehicle.

And if I gave my kid a Tacoma (which I wouldn’t) I sure as hell wouldn’t let him turn around and sell it.
I’d tell him if he doesn’t want it I do lol.

    Good advice right here ^^^

When I was in high school, my part time job I had provided me with enough money to pay for gas to get to work, school and maybe somewhere on the weekends. And when my crappy old chevy did break down, I had a bit of coin to fix it and learn something.

If your truck is the one in the profile pic then ain't no way I'd let her go.

Go buy something else (if not another Tacoma) you will lose more money. Tacoma's have a ridiculous resale value. A big factor when I decided to buy one. My plan is to run mine into the ground then turn it into a weekend toy.

I’d be grateful and enjoy it. Not many are lucky enough to get a decent first vehicle. Its just broken in anyway.
