Hey that's me in the silver Tacoma! Pine valley run. Most were 2wd. I think it even snowed on that run.

I was bummed when he got banned. The 3rd genners got the best of him.

So anybody know how to get a tractor tire bead set without ending up naked 30' away? I got a 16.9 x 24 (pretty huge) but kinda scared to try the fire and starting fluid trick.
My yard is a slip and slide!!! Really sucks, I cant do a damn thing when the rain hits.
Also anybody have any leads on free or cheap (delivered) gravel, ground asphalt, etc....I gotta do something about this nightmare.

My truck is parked in the shop and its so muddy I cant even get it out without sliding down the hill, lol.

What a pain in the arse!! Im pretty much shut down for the moment until I figure out how to unfuck myself, haha...

Can you put a ratchet strap around the tread and squeeze the bead closer to the rim?

I have 3 rows of them on there now along with slime. I need a big burst of air to overcome the sealing/leaking threshold. A small explosion might correct that, however it might cause my current clothing to fly over my neighbor's house if I overshoot my goal
A car tire I have actually done this way when off-roading, but a tractor tire with such volume I have not, I'm pretty good at educated guesses but this is sketchy at best!
That being said Ill give it a shot and start small and work my way up., I really need to dig some trenches to route this water, and need about 300 yards of gravel!

    Hows Nevada treating you Bob!?

Yeah, that’s sketchy for sure. Get video! Getting use to cold weather and remembering how to drive in snow in NV right now.

Gasoline! Worked for us on the Mission Santa Maria run in 2010 on Art's 4WD van... The first attempt I filmed didn't do it, but then I tried the old Baja trucker trick, and boom.. success!

Definitely been a while. The books are great. I get to lend them out every year. I need to get out and wheel more. A few 4Runner buddies like to go try and find petroglyphs.
    How have you been David?

J, rig up a remote detonator - 50’ piece of speaker wire strip both ends lay one end near the bead and touch the other ends to a 9v battery...spark...boom. Model rocket detonator style rig

Is this something we’ll hear about on the news? ‘Local man blows tire into ocean, from 30 miles away’

Gotta be careful with tractor tires seeing as their side wall is normally 40 ply.

    Doing okay, thanks.

We moved from Oceanside near your home to San Marcos for 5 years and 3 months ago bought our own place closer to Fallbrook.

In 2016, I published my own book about the missions in Baja to greatly expand on the data in the 2012 book I co-authored that you have, which includes the missions in Alta California. Link in my signature for the newer book.

My truck now has 117,000 miles and is 9 years old. My wife just traded her 2015 Corolla for a 2019 two days ago.

LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...

So here is how it went down...well the Tractor tire bead mounting I mean.

I sprayed about 15ish seconds worth of Brake clean aerosol into the tire while prying the bead away from the wheel, gave it a good circumference spray (not pried open) with said brake cleaner so it would ignite the surface, and well exactly what I thought would happen, happened.... not a damn thing, except for the bead lighting on fire giving me a great view of a campfire! So what exactly was the problem?

Well ratio was the problem!! Remember we need proper oxygen to fuel ratio + ignition to make this happen, well, I had both! However they were being separated between the sidewall of the tire and the bead itself!

So as the tire bead was flaming I figured introducing some oxygen into the tire by a swift kick sounded good to make this environment happen! I kicked the tire pretty hard to make sure I covered all ratios possible hoping along the way it would ignite, and it popped like a 12 gauge magnum round! POP! And on the bead it was! I quickly added some air to make sure it STAYED on the bead (Pro-tip: air WILL cool quickly after this method and looses volume!) So yeah it was 1st try and went far easier than anticipated!

I didn't die, it was a good day.
And no video because I didnt think it would work 1st try, haha! Well, I still have to do the other side and Ill do it the same way so Ill get that one!

Just got done cutting emergency trenches from the rain with the backhoe holding a flashlight in my teeth, things got nasty today..Ugh this rain made my yard a mud pit!!! I cant even move my own truck out of my shop its so bad!
    Hope your all doing well!
