lol I remember the y2k craze all too well...people thought the world as we knew it was going to end

 

Helped my aunt and uncle build a root cellar on their off the grid property, they had something like 15 years worth of food saved up in it. 1 acre garden, stocked trout pond, solar, diesel generator, 100's of rabbits for food. Cool but a pretty wacky bunch

 

For y2k? Damn...I didn't know anyone like that but I remember all the crazy stories on the news...people thought it was going to be like a worldwide EMP went off or something

 

It was going to be an Oceans 11 type situation.

 

I think there was some religious cult that convinced a bunch of it's followers to commit suicide right before it happened too, or maybe that was another incident around that time. Anyway yeah, people are weird

 

My uncle has always been a big conspiracy theory guy, hence why they lived off the grid

 

Watched this show the other day where this dude bought several dozen (maybe hundreds) of abandoned military plane bunkers/hangars out in the desert somewhere (they wouldn't disclose the location). Pretty sure it was in the US. Anyway they were each made with extremely thick concrete around them and he remodeled a few of them on the inside to be like apartment buildings, extremely fancy and swanky and sells them as condos for the apocalypse when it hits, which he believes will be soon. He actually has a bunch of buyers lined up already and is selling them for well over $100k each.
