Thoughts on painting recovery hook red?

Looks stout enough to meet my needs!

I had good luck with red brake caliper paint. Not sure what you are using, just thought I would contribute.

 

If you plan to use it given its not that strong I suggest you use a line dampener when using it to be safe .Last thing you want is that chunk of steel flying.

Even with mine being the ARB I still use one because the rigging could still fail. A shackle flying is not fun

Given you can get a line dampener for $15cnd from princess auto, which is pretty much our version of harbor freight I'm sure you can get them there pretty cheap

 

I used new holland red tractor paint. Only because my wife has some family in that area where they used to make the tractors. tractor Paint's held up well to pulling a buddy out once.

the red really helped in the crud. Everything else is black, and looks very simliar when the bottom is covered in mud. the red really stands out and helps you find the hook quickly when you need it.

 

That was the plan, but it was dried up from my 2002 Red Lexus SC430 days!

Thanks for the idea. Bought some red plasti dip the other day at walmart tired. Went for black to do my emblems. Didnt realize till I read your post i had red. Haha.

The fun thing about fishing is that you never know what you will catch! Oh wait! It’s a Gen 2, throw it back!

 

I painted mine red... Looks solid... Just used some rustoleum...

 

The stock recovery hook is forged steel. Not weak ass flame cut A36 steel plate.
