Deflection p/s belt?

    what is the deflection supposed to be on the power steering belt for my 2.7???

    My old rule is tight enough that you can't turn it more than 90 degrees. Toyota uses tension as a measurement for belts. Roughly 100-150lbf. Hard to measure.

    SAS with dodge D60/D70, 36 iroks, 5.86's welded rear, Eaton lock, OBA, half back cage, rear mount radiator, etc...
    This, I use it for all machines, bobcats, tractors, and even custom bracket setups when I have to find a new belt that will work after changing pulley sizes or moving front brackets around.

    even if its a bit more than a 90 degree twist, dont panic, centrifugal force generally seats them.

    on serpintine belts it isnt enough anymore just to check the tension. The multi groove design belt when worn will not have enough surface area to provide enough friction to prevent belt slippage. When the belt wears the peaks on the belt dont travel far enough into the grooves on the pulley and the valleys of the belt bottom out on the peaks of the pulley... you can tighten and tighten and all you will be doing is stressing the bearings on the device.

    Gates makes a free serpintine belt checker... you can get it on their website.
