If you're in a position (like commuting in city traffic, etc.,) I'd just suggest getting in the habit of throwing it into S-4 or S-5. The learning, in my experience, really does suck the life out of the truck if it "learns" you want to putt around due to traffic. I just keep it in S-4 or 5 around town and D when on the highway or out of the city. Transmission shift learning is disabled when you are in S-mode

Might be coincidence. I took that vid when the TSB first came out.

But yea I’m lifted 2” front 3” back.

Oh I might have honestly lol. I was going like 55-60 I’m a 45 I do know that.

All that matters is that I don’t experience the dead pedal effect trying to pass someone.

For what it's worth, I have a 2018 auto and today... I had to dart across traffic and well...when I pressed the pedal down to about 3/4 of the way, the truck downshifted and tossed me back in the seat. The little v6 put down some power and made short work of the traffic and there was no issues... :)

I think that a lot of the problem is the drive by wire. I have 30k on my '17 OR MT and it has worked as expected except for that one time. I was making a rolling left turn on a major highway with traffic at about 60 MPH. I started the turn with enough room to literally coast across the traffic lanes but when I hit the gas, it was like putting the brakes on. the truck literally laid over and played dead. I thought for second that I was done for but finally the computer decided that I wanted the truck to accelerate and it moved me out of the way.

I don't think this is strictly a Tacoma or Toyota problem as the same thing happened to me while passing in her '13 Mazda 5. I don't mind the idea of drive by wire, but I don't like the idea that the computer can refuse to respond to your commands when it has no way of knowing why you're asking for maximum acceleration NOW!

That's really pushing the envelope with having 70 mph traffic coming at you. I would have to have a lot of faith in the 0 to 60 of a truck, - or be in a twin turbo sports car.

Really? You mean that every time you make a left turn you expect your vehicle to literally die when you hit the gas?

While I don’t have this issue in my Tacoma, the Ram HDs with the Cummins are infamous for it. Google “dead pedal Cummins”.

Scared the shit out of me....you’d pull out to pass, floor it and it would fall on its face.

Cure? Drive it with tow/haul on.

It’s a known issue across several manufacturers....the Ford 10 speeds are also known for it. Too many gears + fuel mileage tuning = fail.

Pulling a U turn in front of traffic traveling at that speed sounds like poor judgement in any vehicle.

Absolutely. Because eventually, when it DOES happen, I won't injury myself, or god forbid the poor soul who hits me. The world would be a much better place if people realize that YOU are not the only person in it.

Can confirm. During.. spirited take offs, the truck has cut power completely with the throttle on the floor.

I've had this happen a handful of times now with traction on/off.

You need to learn how to read...it was a left turn that if I was in neutral I had enough room to coast out of the way of traffic.

Oh my freaking God...you never make a left turn with other cars coming?

You are both completely full of excrement.

Well excuse me if after driving for 47 years I actually expect a vehicle to accelerate when I push on the accelerator pedal.

Here’s the bottom line...if you press the gas pedal, your vehicle should go. If you press harder, it should go faster.

Anything else is a defect and dangerous.
