I find it amazing that such a weak engine design and block was able to hold 1000HP in the modified turbo version Ivan Stewart raced

 

30k can build you 2 1000hp engines

 

Yup, I have no room too, that's why most everything in my garage is on wheels/mobile.

For my buddy's son's car, to allow access for adj cam gears.

true, it was good for like one endurance race and im sure they brought a few just in case. No way it would have been worth a shit reliability wise

 

a race engine is only good for 5000 miles usually. but greatly depends on what work load it is.,
my buddies 7.0 with the parts i have in it i give it a 10-20k life.. depending on if he heeds my warning on letting the oil temp get to operating temp before breaking 2k rpm

 

Didn’t the pike peak truck have the 3.0 too

 

5000 miles actually seems pretty impressive to me for a full blown race motor

 

no a 3sgte derived motor i believe it was a Lemans motor

 

once again depends on the work load its handling. something like a rally engine is way less because of the dirt and constant change in rpms. road corse engines are usually in the 5k area though

 

Maybe, the 3.0 was toyotas only SOHC V6 production engine. After they got it to make decent power for a race they may have used ti a few times.

 

i have a suspicion they might of used the 3VZ-FE for that truck though. it was a VERY capable engine

in some ways more capable than the 5vz

 

Nice try, neber! I'll never sell any of my tools or machining stuff unless I'm about become homeless. Lol. I've spent so much money on this stuff it's not even funny. It's the reason why I have been driving the same truck for 14 yrs. I decided I'd rather invest in this stuff then a new vehicle at the time. No ragrets.

 

The 3VZ-FE is a great engine, and has some nice strong stock internals, mains aren't brace all that well but you can make a girdle for them

 

The 3vz has the same mains setup as the 5vz. honestly im pretty sure i could put 5VZ parts all in that engine with no issue.

I'm still curious if billet main caps and a better girdle design would help my 5vz out..
