i can confirm the 3vz cams fit in the 5vz heads. so the similarities are there.

 

hmm maybe i should get a 3VZ and see if i can get it to fit in a taco perfectly and run off 5vz electronics... might be an interesting idea.

It was a great engine. it was built for endurance. i believe it was originally for the Group s mr2 and when group s was scrapped ended up in a lemans car. Then in the pikes peak celica and taco

 

thats not too different from the 5vz mains.
just raised up not low on the girdles

 

I bet the block is missing the bosses to mount longitudinally, plus it would be overfueled

eh i'd have to look at one closely. but usually the toyota engines have motor mounts on each side of the engine.

 

Are the nuts and bolts on the edge there to hold a windage tray?

ah okay that makes sense, I don't remember the oil pan having lots of baffles, the VG30 pan has the tray in in.

I think a billet single piece might actually help on those then , the raised design on the VG is there to combat the thrust forces as well as downward forces, the 5VZ looks like it would be good for the harmonic issues V6 face and thrust though for sure

 

im sure a nice solid billet piece would greatly help. The main studs from ARP are larger diamete also. so with the billet piece id feel safer running the larger holes. hmmm more shit to think about. wonder if i can find a machine shop willing to make a billet cap..

 

meanwhile my avalon has 6 bolt mains.... must be nice
and oil squirters...

 

Put it in the tacoma

 

Transversely mounted engines are not easy to fit in the taco. Lol unless said engine was also used in a traditional layout as well. But the og 3.5 was not

 

If I build a 3.5 it’s going to be the Avalon or be in an mr2

 

Dirt everyday did it in a rav4....
