Windshield defroster

It's now cold af, so heat and defroster time. But realized the way the dash is designed the front tweeters are buried into the windshield at both a pillars. The defroster vent stops before them. Like 6-8 inches on either side. So it basically leaves my left and right sides frozen a long the bottom and even up both sides depending on how cold it is. Couple pics, and these are after driving for a while. It'll do the whole windshield if it's turned on blast, but still takes a while. Seeing if anyone else has this happen, or do you drive with the defroster on max all the time.

 

We've had a couple of 10 degree mornings here so far.. just turn it on max and it all melts in a few minutes.

 

I'm still amazed we dont get real windshield defrosters, the vent works alright but its pretty slow in general.

 

Same here. The lower corners take a little longer to defrost. I hadn't thought of it as a problem.

I like the preheater feature. My windshield starts to defrost almost right away.

 

This is after the truck has been running for a bit. But the edges freeze when it's snowing out. The outer edges of the windshield turn to glaciers, since it doesn't get a straight shot in that direction. Thinking about adding a heating element to help. Even after running ten minutes, I'm left with a port hole. Annoying since my jeeps windshield defroster would literally defrost the whole rig before the taco lets me see to drive. One of those taco things im now getting used to since it's my first winter with it

 

What about the left and right front windows? I can't get my truck to keep them clear while driving in cold weather and can't see through either side-view mirrors.

 

I turn the driver and passenger corner vents to point toward the window. Admittedly this is more annoying than the defroster to me.

Same. And I keep telling my wife and daughter not to touch the right vent since I can't reach it while driving.

 

this for some reason cracks me up, i never really gave it much thought til just now, it is weird to have to turn the outside vents to the windows and the defroster doesn't defrost unless its on full blast but what is nice is having my mirrors defrost within 20 seconds of starting the truck, huge thanks to whoever came up with heated mirrors
