I’ve read through a bunch of threads about seat covers but I don’t want neoprene or leather (don’t breathe) and most threads cover those two.

I’m interested in covers that fit well, but don’t have to be perfectly tailored. Mostly looking for protection from dirt, wear, some water protection (damp clothing after a day on the river, etc). Of the mid-line covers how do the following compare?

    Carhart
    CalTrend DuraPlus
Neosupreme (some say these aren’t any good but haven’t elaborated why)

I’m looking for something that breathes better than leather or neoprene while providing some degree of protection from dirt, spills, etc. So the spacer mesh probably isn’t a good option. Oh, and dog hair. Something that isn’t a hair magnet.

    Thanks for input.

I researched this a few months ago with my main criteria being wet dog protection, dog hair cleanup and storage options.

In the price range that you are looking in I came away with the opinion that the Carhartt duck weave seat covers are the best available. I did not buy them, because they do not offer storage options beyond the two behind the seat flat pockets. After I had already ordered seat covers I got an email from AutoAccessoriesGarage about a lightning deal on the Carhartt covers. Normally they are $475 and the lightning deal made them less than $330. The deal expired the same day and I haven’t seen them priced that low since, but keep an eye out and it might come around again (they’re actually on sale there for $440 right now). It seems like if you put items in the cart and leave them to marinate that the prices start mysteriously dropping and sales start popping up on those items in your email and browser. I also always start an online customer service chat when I’m ready to buy and it’s usually good for another 5%-10% off.

For $150-$200 more I also considered Marathon, Headwaters and Bartact. I ended up buying Bartact front and rear, which actually just got delivered today (have not installed yet). I chose Bartact, because of the storage options included in the price, their reputation in the Jeep community and their factory styled stitching. I liked the other two company’s covers, but they did not have anything resembling factory stitching and I could not see covering up new seats with something that looked like a tight sheet.

If you’re not concerned about stitching and what not and want to stick to the price point then I think Carhartts are your best bet. If you can get them for close to $400 for the full set that’s a good price. If you have the time and patience, wait on a deal closer to $350.

Corps, that is awesome info to have. I wasn’t aware of those other companies so I’ll do some more homework. Those Bartacs look sweet, so I might need to loosen the grip on my wallet.

One of my contractors happened to mention the Carhartts yesterday, and liked them. So I’ve got some decisions to make.

    Thanks again.

Just placed an order with Marathon Seat Covers; I had them in my old pick-up truck for 14 years.

    I give Bartect a .
I put them last summer. The fit is perfect. Lots of storage. After I put them on I emailed Bartact about cleaning and got a reply the next day . The color pattern matches my interior.

No problem, try not to go too far down the seat cover research rabbit hole, you can end up upping your budget $100 at a time and wind up over $1,000 easily. I came damn close until I slapped myself haha.
The prices surprised me and I think the Carhartts are about as low as you can go and still get the durability. One thing that I do like about the Carhartts over Bartact that I failed to mention is that the Carhartts will be easier to take off and throw in the washer. If you dirty up your truck quick that will come in handy. If you get them and decide you don’t like the Carhartts I am sure you can sell them on here within a couple of days.

I have Marathon covers, they’re made of ripstop Cordura and have a waterproofing treatment. I’ve gotten them seriously dirty and a soak gets it all right off. They hold up very well and are handmade in Montana.

I should probably clarify something for the OP. Marathon and Headwaters are absolutely higher quality and better fit than the Carhartts. Just depends on the budget.

Lester, thanks for that search link. I'm still learning how to optimize search queries here on TW. That brings up a lot of good threads I hadn't found previously. (It seems I'd find every thread ever written about Wet Okole or Clazzio)

Thanks to others for sharing their pics and feedback. Good stuff.

Yeah, definitely more expensive, but I can vouch for them fitting perfectly. I've seen cheap covers that fit loosely and they don't look very good.

I just bought my first Taco and traded in my silverado. I had Marathon seat covers on my chevy and loved them! They fit nicely and looked good! Planning on buying marathons again after i decide what design I want

Installed the Bartact seat covers over the weekend. Still a few adjustments to be made, but they fit tight and look great in my opinion. The rear headrests are included, but I think I’m going to leave them off. You have to cut the holes for the headrest posts after they are installed, so if you don’t cut the ones in the rear the drop in brackets stay covered up.

The most difficult part of the install was threading the rear middle seatbelt back through its capture loop towards the bottom of the seat back. The middle seatbelt needs to be removed for install, so don’t forget to take a picture of how the middle seatbelt bracket under the seat is oriented before you remove it.

Probably obvious, but they are the all black option. They do not come with a center console cover, so I picked up this neoprene one from Amazon. Not an exact match in color or material, but close enough for me. Won’t work for your 2015, but I’m sure you can find a neoprene option if you don’t mind the differences.

We went with Carhartts almost 4 years ago.... Stable solid product that takes a beating. They still look new with no signs of discoloration or wear. We would purchase the same product again if need be.

Bartact are awesome covers i had them on my jeep when the company was called trek armor. I would love to get a set for my truck cause my front set is looking ragged especially by the knob. And the molle system is a great bonus

A few years ago I put CR grade neoprene covers in my Tacoma because I spend a lot of time getting soaking wet and muddy. Driving to work on Mondays after a weekend of play and getting a soaked ass really sucks so neosupreme and other non-waterproof (or at least highly water repellent) covers were out. Neoprene worked perfectly. Unfortunately, where I live it gets damn hot in the summer and neoprene covers equal a case of swampass and a sweaty back. Its time for new covers for the Tacoma and a set for for my Jeep. After doing a bit of research I plan on going with ballistic nylon. Specifically these.

So far so good on the seat covers, I am satisfied with them.

I sent Bartact an email after I installed them and let them know that TW is a good place to get their Tacoma product line exposure and that other vendors offer group buys periodically.

They responded that they would pass the information on, so hopefully one will show up for you guys at some point.
