Anybody recognize the truck on the left?

Fab Fours front and rear bumpers, Zeon winch, high rise shell, bolt on sliders, had USMC vet tag on it. On stock suspension no less. :notsure:

Saw a cool 80 who parked next to me the other day too.

So, I have to replace my throwout bearing on my truck and while I'm in there I am going to just replace the clutch with the URD stage 3 clutch and the URD HD flywheel. Also considering adding the dual transfer case setup while I'm in there since everything is gonna be out anyway.

My problem is, messing with transmission stuff scares the shit out of me and I have no idea what I am doing with that shit.

Anyone on here that has done this before and maybe interested in a "fix my shit" day in January?

I would be down to help, depending on when it is (if I'm free) and where it is (do I have to drive 3 hours).
What happened to your throwout bearing? Making a noise? I think changing the bearing, clutch and flywheel will be relatively easy. However, adding in the dual transfer case will be more difficult. I haven't looked into it much, but don't you have to get new drive shafts, make new holes for the sticks etc. If you have everything needed and have it all planned out should be a fun project though. Let us know what you are planning, and hopefully we can make it work.

Started out making a noise on cold starts. Sounded like a whine that only lasted a minute. Now its not doing it on start-up, its only doing it in low gears at low speeds and goes away when I push the clutch.

I had the same thing on my '02. Never changed out the bearing before selling it though. Can get very annoying.

If it goes away when you push the clutch pedal in, it's probably not the throw-out bearing. The throw-out bearing makes noise when the clutch pedal is pushed in since that's when it's performing it's function. It shouldn't be doing anything with the clutch pedal released (clutch engaged).

Contrary to popular belief, and I thought the same, it is the tob. The guys at URD said the same thing. The bearing floats and is not on a clutch fork like you would find on a T-56 or similar.

The new transmissions on the 3rd gens don’t have an input shaft or pilot bearing either.

Same on the 2nd gen V6's no pilot or input support bearings. Just the throw out.

You going to the hydraulic tremec style kit from URD too?

    What about flywheel?

Need to replace my rear main seal and I mean if I'm pully the tranny and transfer case time to upgrade, FJ J case, clutch components etc

Pulling it all ain't too bad really, can do it pretty quick now, shit is just heavy. Like that transfer case weighs 2x as much as it should at least.

I'm just concerned about doing it right. I have never replaced a clutch before.

I was scared shitless first time I did it on my 00 4Runner, it's really really easy in retrospect.

Pick up a jar of Honda Ultra High Temp Urea Grease for the shaft splines and fork pivot and get a good quality kit from a reputable manufacturer (URD ia a good place) and otherwise it's pretty straightforward.

It's probably a full day job in a driveway especially if you're cleaning and organizing as you go, which I recommend.

I also recommend replacing all the bolts and since you are going to be in there do the rear main seal.

I'm just not that confident in my abilities to do it. Moving parts make me nervous.
