Anyone ice fishing this weekend? I'm gonna try again this weekend and maybe I won't go swimming this time.

I'll let you know, I'm just kinda doing some initial research. I bought a One X a few months ago so I'm trying to slowly convert my setup to 4k

Squats and deadlifts! Legitimately they will help strengthen a lot of muscles and supporting tendons and things that runners typically don't work on. Also squatting and deadlifting is so much more fulfilling than running...

That's what I've been doing. Fitness cult-ish type workouts in the gym I'm slowly building up in my garage. I don't mind the discomfort of longer events/workouts, just tune it out and focus on the task.

I've also started putting the stair master at my work gym in the rotation of things to do. Killington will be here sooner than I realize.

Sounds like that diet didn't do the trick  :stirthepot:

There's enough ice on some of the ponds around here, but not many of them. Probably by the end of the weekend we'll have more, though, with the forecast we've got. But I mean, even the shallow-ass duck pond I dug behind the house is still open. Granted it's fed by the French Drain around the foundation, so it's a little warmer to start with, but still...

Yeah, who would have thought that 1-2" of ice wouldn't hold 264 lbs? o_OOh well, it was good to wash my gear I guess and the auger still works so...

I think I have 6" of ice on my local crappie hot spot after this past week, so I will hit that and hopefully will be having a fish fry on the ice Sunday with the Pats on the radio.

Stairmaster is clutch. Killington is all up/ down hill. Running is almost irrelevant there. Try stairmaster with a ruck/ weight vest too for extra goodness. That was pretty much all I did extra for the Ultra I did earlier this year

You must be fit, huh? I wish I caught that bug at some point in my life. Even when I was racing mountain bikes I wasn't as fitness oriented as I should have been.

Well you've got 3 inches on me, at least. But those 3 inches account for a lot; I'm 5'7 and am fairly solid, but I weigh in around 160-165.

What's your GF's phone #? I'll do you a solid and tell her to put you on an all-haggis and water diet.

Just like downhill skiing; you needed the extra weight for better downhill acceleration.

Haha I've heard. I need to find a place to hand a rope in garage though, have to practice the foot techniques. I don't have access to one at any gym and right now that's automatic burpees for me.

Next year I'm signed up for 5 or 6 events so far and will be the first year I actually focus and train for it. Hoping the year after to get into an ultra and possible some hurricane heats/other types of endurance events.

I think I'd love haggis! And I drink plenty of water with my Makers Mark.
