Tapping Noise from Passenger Dash Speaker (SOLVED)

Yeah it's a bugger when it happens BUT to add some positive to this thread...
At least we know these trucks are built near perfect and exact from one to the next. I mean for so many to have this little rattle thing..specs and build must be less than a hair difference. Crazy..noise sucks, but I certainly appreciate the quality of build.
Btw..if my truck didnt make this little noise which I've fixed by stuffing a folded parking voucher I'd have not one complaint. The MT 2016 tacoma is perfection.

27* this morning, pushed in the A-pillar cover, and gave it a twist so that I pushed it towards the windshield, and rotated the cover into the windshield, felt a light pop....sound gone...

 

Mine also has started back since the cold weather has settled in.It stops ticking after about 5 minutes then it is fine.I m kind of scared to mess with it because it could make it worse

 

My shit always rattles. I need to figure out what the fix is.

 

The "smack" technique worked for me! Thanks! There was an audible "click". No probs since and its been below freezing at night.

 

After seeing this thread I can confirm this is the same rattle my truck has. I need to try the smack technique first. Next will be felt strip and or tightening up the tweeter.

Broke a tab prying off cover to put velcro on. I had one remaining tab so I put double sided tape at the other tab location and ordered another cover.

Check this out. New cover doesn't have the little nubs, and it came with damping material already installed in the problem area.

 

They must read TW and got the solution here.

 

The most irritating part of this issue was bringing it to the dealership for them to have me bring the clown tech on a drive when it's LOUDLY rattling only having him claim that he can't hear it and has absolutely no idea what I am talking about. I swear he was lying to my face so he wouldn't talk himself into a corner or something. I brought it home and stuffed folded up paper in between the windshield column and speaker panel. For the most part it stopped but it still does it on really cold mornings...

I started noticing that mine makes this irritating noise too. A month or so after picking it up from the dealer i noticed that there was sine kind of glue residue in that area that must have been holding that corner locked together.

You edited the post's title to solved but there's 11 pages of people shoving all kinds of stuff all over.

What would be great is if a fix was found to add the solved to the title but add the fix to the first post so it's not a needle in a haystack!

 

Same issue here. I have a piece of cardboard shoved between the pillar and dash for now. Will probably try some foam later.

 

For me, I had to pull the tweeter out, take it apart and glue it all back together. The ticking sound has never come back. I hit this issue pretty hard on page 9 with pics.

 

I haven't used it because my previous fix (velcro fuzzy on the same area) fixed that particular rattle. However, I have two other unsolved dash rattles which I believe may be the external cowl tapping on the windshield.

 

I had several mysterious dash noises besides the PS Speaker Cover, stuffed that round foam at the front of the dash and base of the windshield and it's so much quieter now.

I too had a weird thumping in behind there too, sounded like a bowl ball hitting, lol.
