i put everything back together but I can't get the metra dash piced to snap in place. I can literally pull everything off with my hand. Is there some trick to snapping it back on?

Is that the KDC-X994? I came so close to buying that HU but I saw it at a local audio shop and got worried the display would be hard to see in daylight because it sits so high in the dash in the Tacoma. Awesome HU otherwise...

Oh yeah, 945's real nice too. It has a different display than the 994 and I wouldn't expect any trouble from it.

I got my HU and metra kit from Crutchfield and the kit came with 5 extra clips that were a little different than the stock yellow clips from my old HU. The new clips had a much better fit.

Right on. I'll do it as soon as I order.... got some ebay junk selling now and gettin my 'play' dough. haha

I am def going to get this style HU... although I am looking at the kdc-x794. It the same model as yours minus the blue tooth. (At least that is the only diff I can tell.)

Do you think the bluetooth is worth the extra coinage? It would be like 50 bucks more.

Any phone can link to it? And are you able to dial a number from the remote?

Thanks for the info on the dash kit too.

I know what your saying bud, I'm working on some change for MODS as well

I'm sure that's the only difference in the decks. If you have a phone w/ bluetooth or plan on getting one then yes it is worth the coinage. It is the parrot Bluetooth so it's the most compatible w/ phones. Hooking up the Blackberry was no problem, and yes you can dial from the remote. The mic from the deck is pretty stealth too, I mounted it on top of my stering wheel. Keep me posted.

I can't get my Metra kit to stay in, however I do have the white clips on. Almost seems like the tabs or whatever aren't even long enough. I can push it all the way in where it should be but it just doesn't stay.
