Favorite Whiskey?

Went Christmas shopping this week for some new Whiskey's to try. Almost had to play Santa and sneak it down the chimney to get them past the wife.

 

Was able to find the whole collection at my go to spot. Can anyone source the Oban night watch? My guy only had two and kept one for himself and damn it’s good.

 

And?? What did you think? Nice hearty pours there, by the way.

EDIT: Quick anecdote...pretty much every Wednesday and Friday a small crowd gathers at the local Kroger Liquor store to try and catch something rare/"good" when the store opens. This morning I stopped by just before open and there were three bottles of Heaven Hill 27 year on the counter. The first three (not me...I was like 10th in line) in the door snapped them up...boom boom boom. $399.99 a pop. No hesitation from those folks. And that's MSRP, not mark up.

 

Excellent spread. Curious how this year's Master's Collection is. A buddy who collects all of them was unimpressed last year (Batch Proof, I think?). Neat one-offs that they make, though.

That Glenmorangie pack is a nice pickup. It has Lasanta and Quinta Ruban samplers, right? I think both of those are excellent and Glenmorangie 10 year is such a staple scotch. It really ought to get more recommendations.

We have a couple of places that have the whole collection available. I'm not in to the show, so I won't be collecting, but a one-off Lagavulin and Talisker tickles my fancy. I may pick those up for that reason.

 

Likely folks that are keen to the secondary value. That stuff trades over $1,000 consistently.

 

Yep I think this is a first 9 year lagavulin. The Baratheon 12 year is great but the oban nightwatch is my favorite. Any places near you that have the nightwatch?

 

Yes. There are a few places nearby with it in stock. A buddy is going to grab a bottle today. Maybe I have him snag me one.

My go-to shop is getting them in shortly, though. I was in the store while he was discussing with his distribution rep. He put in an order for most of them while I was standing there.

The Glenmorangie pack does indeed have the Lasanta and Quinta samplers.
One of the clerks is holding me 2 bottles of Buffalo Trace back or they too would have been in the pic. They just arrived and are not allowed to be put out just yet. She's supposed to text me when to drop by.

 

Buffalo Trace is another, like Eagle Rare, that is an excellent value and should be available on the shelf all of the time. The run on it is crazy. It is one of the more recent casualties of the bourbon boom. I bet it was no more than a year ago where grabbing a bottle of Buffalo Trace didn't take a second thought about where to find it.

Good on you to have a spot where you have a little loyalty so that they'll help you out with stuff like that.

 

I bought my 2nd bottle of Eagle Rare last week. Good stuff. Buffalo Trace is no where to be found. I've walked into at-least 8 Liquor stores in the last 2 months asking for BT. The clerks mostly just laugh when ask if they have any.
The clerk at my local store said 2 of the bottles pictured, the Angels Envy and the Michters were the same way as BT, gone in a day. I got the last bottle of each.

Tons of buffalo trace in my neck of the woods. Saw it last night for $30 a bottle it was the store barrel pick.

I will be opening it soon so I’ll keep you posted. It’s the oat grain and I’ve heard good things. I was unimpressed with the other release as well, so my hopes are up for this one
