I’m probably going to head up north on Saturday with my wife. Sorry to bail.. Been waiting for a chance to go check it out after it’s snowed (moved here in June). But I’ll be at the meetup on the 17th at mcfate.

Meet at Butcher Jones at 9:45am Tomorrow? https://goo.gl/maps/NyiRQbWBvuE2 When you come into the beach area you go around to the left and there is some diagonal parking spots before you hit the ohv entrance that should be a good place to meet. From there we can head towards 4 peaks/Cline Cabin RD 33°39'59.7"N 111°28'27.0"W. Looking at the satellite there are many routes and it looks like staying up on the ridgeline is a pretty easy 2wd option if @KennyChuck wants to go a little easier on 2wd.

From Cline Cabin we head up to the camp site maybe stop for a quick bite along the way, then establish camp

Once camp is set up and the site claimed we can explore a bit along the ridgeline and side trails? back to camp for sunset/dinner and then maybe a little night wheeling????

 

Sounds good. Regarding camp site: is it just open free road camping or is there an actual site? Looking at some YouTube videos butcher Jones looks a little gnarly for my 2wd? I’m wondering if I go through and meet y’all via 4 peaks.

 

Butcher is one of those spots that is easy if you want it to be and more difficult if you want it to. As Carter's Taco said a lot of bypass options. I would not put too much stock into some of the videos of the more challenging spots if you stay up on the ridgelines most of it is rated easy 1-4 on trailsoffroad.
Free road camping. If the site is taken there is a ton of sites up there. This particular one just gives cool views of the lake east and the mcdowells west.

Picked up a couple bundles of firewood. Don't know why I always do since it's a damn forest but with lows around freezing better safe than sorry plus don't have to go scavenge for wood on a bad ankle

 

Guys! I am soooooo sorry! Been crazy this week, couple fired, couple quit...I have been having to pick up the slack. Unfortunately will have to work tomorrow...wah,wah. I will though be coming out either Saturday night or Sunday morning depending on the days schedule! Cant apologize enough....call ya when I get out of town, if I get no response Ill just head out that way!

 

Are you saying you're gonna miss the morning festivities but still come up to the camp site at night? If so DM me your cell. I can text you the GPS coordinates from camp from my garmin just in case we have to find an alternate camp etc..
